Optic Gaming took revenge after their defeat in Atlanta, this time taking the Call of Duty World League Dallas trophy in a dominating performance in the final against Eunited in the grand final.
The veteran lineup of Seth “Scump” Abner, Matthew “FormaL” Piper, Ian “Crimsix” Porter, and Damon “Karma” Barlow were of fire throughout the entire weekend, clocking wins over FaZe Clan, Splyce, Luminosity, EnvyUs, and Eunited. The team took home 25,000 pro points and $80,000 for their troubles.
Optic recorded a clean sweep in the group stages, securing their spot in the winners bracket early on. It wasn’t all plain sailing though, as both Luminosity and Splyce took the eventual champions to five games in both of their series. Optic did however manage a clean sweep over long time rivals FaZe Clan in both the final of the winners bracket, and the opening match of the final bracket. On the other side of the bracket, Eunited secured a sweep over Splyce, and a 3-1 win over FaZe Clan to book their spot in the final.
Optic entered the final with a one game advantage, having come from the winners bracket, and the CWL Atlanta champions didn’t make it easy for them, taking the opening set 3-2. Optic however bounced back and ensured their victory by returning the favour with a 3-2 win in what would be the final game of the tournament. The win affirms Optic’s position at the top of the NA Pro Point standings.
The Call of Duty World League will be back in action next month in Birmingham, when some of the best teams in Europe will converge on the United Kingdom to battle it out for $50,000 and 38,000 Pro Points. The next global event will be CWL Anaheim in June.
