The wait is over for EMEA Premier teams, as Riot has finally announced the promotion and relegation event that will serve as a path for Valorant Challengers EMEA. The event will take place from May 4 to 7, and you can find the complete details about the participating teams, format, and more below.
VCT Challengers EMEA Promotion & Relegation: Format & Participating Teams
Each EMEA promotion tournament will feature the top four Premier teams from their respective zones. This excludes IBIT, which will send the top four teams from Spain, Italy, and Portugal. These teams will be joined by two relegated teams from the respective VCL. Lastly, the regions with VRC will send either the top four teams or the winning team.
Each tournament will take place in two stages, i.e., a two-group, BO3 single elimination bracket and a GSL stage, from where two teams will qualify for promotion in the region's VCL.
BO3 Single Elimination Stage
If the event has five teams, i.e., four from Premier and one from VRC, Premier teams will compete in the BO3 single elimination bracket, and the VRC team will automatically be seeded into the GSL stage.
On the other hand, if there are a total of eight teams, i.e., four from Premier and four from VRC, they will compete in a two-group, BO3 single elimination bracket, in which teams qualified from the same tournament will play against each other.
GSL Stage
The teams qualified from BO3 will be joined by two relegated teams from their region's Challengers League. The stage will consist of two initial matches, which will seed teams into either a winners or a losers bracket.
The winner of the winner’s bracket match will be the first team to go to VCL of their region. The loser will play against the winner of the loser's bracket and the winner of that series will be the second team to go to VCL.
