The Deathslinger Power & Perks in Dead by Daylight

Before we delve into the best builds for The Deathslinger, let's look at this killer's power and teachable perks, so you know what you're working with.

First, here are The Deathslinger's three teachable perks:

Gearhead

  • Gearhead activates when a Survivor loses a health state. Once active, every time a Survivor succeeds on a great skill check while repairing, the generator they are repairing will be illuminated in a yellow aura.

Dead Man's Switch

  • After hooking a Survivor, Dead Man’s Switch activates. When any Survivor stops repairing a generator, that generator becomes blocked by The Entity for a duration. Affected generators are highlighted in white aura.

Hex: Retribution

  • Spawn a Hex Totem. Survivors cleansing any Totem cannot hear Terror Radius or see your Red Stain for a duration. After successfully cleansing a Hex Totem, all Survivor auras are briefly revealed.

The Deathslinger's power is called "The Redeemer." The in-game description reads as follows:

The Redeemer

  • Raise The Redeemer, track a Survivor in your sights, and fire a chained harpoon.
  • If the shot connects, reel in the struggling Survivor for an attack.
  • If the Survivor manages to break free from the chain, the Survivor will escape, and the Deathslinger will be stunned for a brief duration.

Best Deathslinger Builds In Dead By Daylight

The Deathslinger can use his Redeemer gun to reel survivors in, injuring them. He can injure survivors in locations where other killers can't by using his Redeem, such as windows.

As such, there are many different ways you can play this killer. Here are just a few of the top Deathslinger builds that you can try.

Beginner Deathslinger Build

If you are just getting started as a new Deathslinger main, it might be hard to decide which perks to use. The Deathslinger can use his power to close in on survivors and land hits where other killers cannot, but he is a slow killer, meaning that he can use the help of perks for slowdown.

  • Jolt
  • Gearhead (The Deathslinger)
  • Hex: No One Escapes Death
  • Whispers

All of the perks included in this build are general perks, meaning they either come by default with The Deathslinger or can be found in the Bloodweb of all killers without prestiging or reaching level 50.

Whispers is a great perk for almost all beginner killers since it helps you find survivors if you don't have a sense of the game yet. Jolt provides generator slowdown, while Gearhead helps you track survivors on generators and ensures you know where to go before generators are completed. Hex: No One Escapes death helps you earn some easier kills at the end of the game.

Generator Control Deathslinger Build

The Deathslinger is at his best when he is able to keep generators regressing constantly, but it can be hard when he is such a slow killer. Thankfully, there are perks that can help him take control of generators and ensure that they are regressing throughout the match.

  • Corrupt Intervention (The Plague)
  • No Way Out (The Trickster)
  • Dead Man's Switch (The Deathslinger)
  • Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist)

Corrupt Intervention provides slowdown at the beginning of the match, ensuring generators are not completed before you can find your footing in the trial. Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance provides constant generator regression as long as you can get hooks regularly. Dead Man's Switch provides even more generator regression. No Way Out ensures that even if some survivors make it to the end of the game, they will have a hard time making it out of the Exit Gates.
