Developer Sandfall Interactive's debut gaming release, the reactive turn-based RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has garnered overwhelmingly positive reviews and praise for its compelling narrative, stunning visuals, enchanting score, exceptional voiceover cast, and reactive turn-based combat mechanics within a week since its launch this month. Despite this overwhelming love and support for the game, it has some glaring issues with the aforementioned combat mechanics; its dodging and parrying mechanics have nonetheless captivated players across all platforms.
While the game is a relatively recent release, being the debut game for the developers at Sandfall Interactive, they've already hit a monumental milestone in record time. This news was announced this past week as both the developer and its publisher, Keplar Interactive, announced on social media, giving them more reasons to enjoy this moment with some freshly baked French sweet treats!
Within 24 hours following its release for consoles and PCs on 24th April 2024, the official social media account for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 surprised itself and players that it had shipped around 500,000 copies. According to the social media post, this achievement is "a milestone for us, reached sooner than we'd ever imagined," for which they concluded by thanking everyone for their support.
Two days later, the developer had to make yet another post celebrating an astonishing achievement, for which the reactive turn-based RPG reached another sales milestone. This time, the game's publisher also joined in on the celebrations as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has sold one million copies since its release.
"And here we are. Three days after launch. One million copies sold. Thank you for believing in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33," the official announcement post read. However, they accompanied a follow-up post which added that this sales figure "includes units shipped to retailers and does not encompass our awesome Xbox Game Pass players," which remains just what the total figure looks like if Game Pass numbers were included.
