Following its release in 2017 as a launch game for the original Switch console, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild gets another lease of life as an enhanced version of the action-adventure game was announced for the Switch 2. Alongside its direct follow-up, Tears of the Kingdom, and other Nintendo exclusives available upon the console's launch this June, the Japanese company has been embarking on a world tour by bringing the console and several games to multiple cities internationally.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Experience was recently held in Dallas, Texas, USA, and Tokyo, Japan, over the same weekend of 26th and 27th April 2025, where a Japanese speedrunner attended the Japanese leg of the hands-on events to play one of the demo games available, the Switch 2 version of Breath of the Wild. The speedrunner recorded and uploaded the footage to their YouTube channel, quickly amassing thousands of views as the speedrunner completed the game within minutes.
Multiple reports from Nintendo Life and VGC show that the Japanese speedrunner was identified as Ikaboze at the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in Tokyo this past weekend. In their uploaded YouTube video on 27th April 2025, the speedrunner utilized his in-game knowledge and techniques before loading up one of the various save files available for the demo, which is capped at ten minutes of demo playtime.
For the speedrunner, they loaded a save file, which launched them into an epic boss fight with Ganon himself, but not before removing all equipment from Link ahead of the fight. Ikaboze had not only completed the fight against Ganon within the ten-minute playtime cap (seven minutes to be exact) but had attracted onlookers who were amazed at the incredible feat he accomplished at the hands-on event, as he's more than likely the first person to defeat Ganon in Breath of the Wild Switch 2 edition.
No official statement from Nintendo has been made in light of this astonishing achievement accomplished by Ikaboze, but for the Japanese speedrunner, his video continues gaining more and more views as the hours go by. The Breath of the Wild enhanced version launches globally for Switch 2 consoles on 5th June 2025 as a complete game for those who do not own the game or as an Upgrade Pack for those who already have the game on their original Switch console.
