Steel Hunters is still fresh out of Early Access, but Wargaming isn’t wasting any time beefing up the roster. Taurus is the newest Hunter crashing into Steel Hunters, and he's built to bulldoze anything in his way.
Landing in Version 0.41 on April 29, Taurus is built for one thing: getting up close and wrecking shop.
Built Like a Bull, Hits Like a Truck
Taurus doesn’t bother with subtlety. He’s a designed as a frontline brawler through and through, charging into fights with a Heavy Shotgun and a move called Bull Charge that does exactly what you think it does. If you've been craving a mech that thrives in the chaos of close-quarters skirmishes, then this could be your guy.
His Power Pylon lets him claim territory and turn skirmishes into slugfests. This isn’t the mech you pick for flanking or finesse—this is the one you pick when you want your enemies to see you coming and still panic.
Unlocking Taurus
If you want to bring the bull to your roster, you'll have three ways to add the latest Hunter to your game. Here’s how it works in the current Battle Pass:
-
Free Path: Reach level 59 in the PRO Battle Pass (100 Platinum).
-
Instant Unlock: Go PREMIUM and get him right away for 200 Platinum total.
-
Missed the pass? Don’t worry - he’ll be available for Constructs in Version 0.42.
Wargaming’s sticking to their word on keeping Hunters accessible to all, even if the fast track has some Platinum perks.
A Meta Shake-Up?
It’s early days, but Taurus looks set to shift how players approach close-range combat. Most Hunters lean on ranged harassment or hybrid tools - but Taurus? He’s all-in on pressure and disruption, which could make him a nightmare if paired with the right long-range support.
It’s also arriving alongside the game’s first steps toward a Melee 2.0 update, meaning close combat might finally get the love it deserves. Between that and a bunch of under-the-hood changes (UI tweaks, Hunter balance passes, and new visuals for interactables), Version 0.41 is shaping up to be more than just a content drop—it’s a solid quality-of-life improvement.
First New Hunter, But Definitely Not the Last
Taurus brings some well-needed variety to Steel Hunters’ launch roster, and it’s great to see Wargaming moving fast on new content. The brawler archetype was notably absent at launch, so this feels like more than just a new face—it’s a sign the devs are paying attention to what players want.
If this is the pace we can expect from future updates, mech fans have plenty to get excited about.
