Elden Ring continues to be discussed as one of the greatest action RPG releases within the past decade, after three years and two expansion releases later. The game garnered mostly positive reviews upon the base game's release in February 2022, and history repeated itself when the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC launched in June 2024, becoming "the best-reviewed" DLC since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's Blood and Wine DLC.
As more players are discovering FromSoftware's action RPG in 2025, its developer, FromSoftware, announced a new sales milestone achieved for the action RPG. The news was shared on the game's social media accounts this past week as they celebrated with all Tarnished who were guided by Grace to the Lands Between.
FromSoftware once again celebrates another phenomenal sales milestone, just a few short months after achieving its last milestone in December 2024. According to the publisher Bandai Namco, the developer had sold over 28.6 million copies globally, officially seeing Elden Ring surpassing the Dark Souls series, which sold 27 million combined units.
More recently, Elden Ring has amassed 30 million copies sold according to a social media post on 28th April 2025, which, between December 2024 and April 2025, around 1.4 additional units were sold. This will likely see a massive surge in sales following the developer's announcement during the Nintendo Direct that the game is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 console.
Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition was announced as part of the Nintendo Partner Spotlight for the Switch 2 console; however, no official release date was confirmed other than its 2025 release window. We'll be updating this and several other news articles regarding the release date for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, which is coming soon to Nintendo Switch 2 consoles this year!
