Star Wars Eclipse Release Date Speculation
At the time of writing, there is no official confirmed release date for Star Wars Eclipse, but in this article, you’ll find all (if any) information that the developer shared, as well as some speculation from Ginx on when we could see it launch.
Quantic Dream has stated that the game is in "early development," so it will not be coming anytime soon.
If we had to predict an expected release date, it would be sometime in 2023 or 2024. The most recent big-budget Star Wars title, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, was first revealed in May 2016 and did not release until November 2019. That is three years fans had to wait before finally getting their hands on the finished product.
If we are lucky, we may see the game sometime in late 2023. However, considering the words from the developers and the fact that Star Wars Eclipse looks to be the most demanding Star Wars game to date, 2024 (or even 2025) seems more likely.
Star Wars Eclipse Story Elements
Star Wars Eclipse is confirmed to have an entirely original story with entirely original characters. As mentioned, this will be a multiple-character branching narrative game, so each character will likely have their own story and own endings to explore.
The game is also confirmed to take place during the High Republic era. This is an era of Star Wars set before the prequels (Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace) with a heavy focus on the Outer Rim. Looking at other Star Wars media, we know that the High Republic era is said to be a golden age where the Galactic Republic was at its peak. Jedi were scattered throughout the galaxy, and peace was bestowed upon all.
However, the Outer Rim, where most of Star Wars Eclipse will take place, is home to slavers, pirates, and other criminals. Therefore, it is likely that lots of stories will involve conflict between these villains and the Jedi.
Star Wars Eclipse Gameplay & Features
We only have the reveal trailer to use when making gameplay assumptions. And, as this is a cinematic trailer, no gameplay is featured at all. That said, we can easily assume that most traditional Star Wars elements will return, including lightsaber duels, force powers, and space travel.
The cinematic trailer showcased a dogfight in space, so some spacecraft combat will likely be present in the final game.
Star Wars Eclipse Platforms & Leaks
Quantic Dream has traditionally been a third-party developer exclusively for PlayStation. However, after an interview with studio founder David Cage, things have changed. Cage stated that “Quantic Dream is not exclusive to any platform anymore... unless there are some specific exclusivity deals on a tile-by-title basis, all our games will be released on all platforms at launch.”
Therefore, it is relatively safe to assume that Star Wars Eclipse will be coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S / X, and PC at launch.
There are no leaks for Star Wars Eclipse, as the game was only recently announced. We will update this section as soon as more leaks drop.
