A new report has revealed that the acclaimed strategy game franchise Total War may be heading to a galaxy far, far away in a forthcoming release. Creative Assembly is reported to be developing a Star Wars-centric game, which is one of three projects the studio is currently working on.
While it's unconfirmed whether this latest report relates to a Star Wars-themed Total War game, it's yet to be determined where along in its development the game is. As such, we cannot confirm any details relating to this potential game, including an estimated release date; however, it will see the franchise return to its fantasy roots if a license is obtained.
According to a new report from Dualshockers in May 2024, a reliable source relayed information that developer Creative Assembly is working on a licensed game within the Total War franchise. The license, reportedly to be Star Wars and obtained from Lucasfilm Games, is one of three games following Total War: Pharoah's release to be in development, with a timeline unconfirmed as of writing.
A possible Star Wars-themed game will see the franchise back within the fantasy genre following the releases of Three Kingdoms and Warhammer. However, with three new games in the works at the studio, they're also developing new content for Total War: Pharoah, including specific features mentioned in a recent game update post.
This includes increasing "the size of the campaign map and introducing even more cultures and ways of engaging in glorious strategic conquest." This new map feature is confirmed to be included in the next game update and will be available for free alongside a revamped campaign mode and new additions sometime this year.
