Developer NetEase Games and Marvel Games unveiled a brand new trailer for their superhero team-based PVP shooter, Marvel Rivals, during the recent PlayStation State of Play showcase. The trailer announced a few key details, including a console launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, new playable characters, and a map coming soon to the game.
Additionally, a Closed Beta Test has been scheduled for all confirmed platforms, which is slated to take place sometime in July 2024, with more details to follow. Regarding the console launch, PS5 owners will be rewarded with a platform-exclusive reward when the game launches on the platform.
The superhero team-based PVP shooter Marvel Rivals is heading to console as the developer confirmed it will launch for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles. As the game launches on this platform, PS5 owners will be treated to an exclusive in-game reward once the developer confirms a release date.
According to an official announcement post by Marvel Rivals producer Stephen Wu for PlayStation Blog, PS5 owners who own a copy of Marvel Rivals will earn the platform-exclusive reward, the Scarlet Spider costume. This cosmetic will be available to them when the game officially launches on PS5, which the developer has yet to announce.
What has been confirmed is the upcoming Closed Beta Test, which will be available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S—the first time for consoles. According to the developer, the Closed Beta Test is scheduled for July 2024; however, the exact dates and times have yet to be confirmed.
Nevertheless, the developer has stated in an official post for Marvel.com that details for the upcoming Closed Beta Test will be made available "closer to the test." This "large-scale test" will be available to all invited players from North America and Europe with other regions for the duration of the beta, in which they can playtest the new playable characters, Adam Warlock and Venom, and the new map, Tokyo 2099: Spider-Islands.
