Two of Nintendo's biggest Legend of Zelda games are confirmed to gain upgrade paths for the Nintendo Switch 2 upon the console's launch this year. While Nintendo has made their respective listings available for Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild for owners to pre-order, they can view new game features and optimizations bundled with the respective games.

An interesting detail was discovered in the listings for the Switch 2 editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom for those who are eagle-eyed to spot it! This was first reported by ComicBook.com and Eurogamer on 17th April 2025, in which the EU/UK listings for both games omit one key feature that needs clarification from Nintendo.

According to reports from ComicBook.com and Eurogamer, the official EU/UK listings for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom feature a disclaimer right at the bottom of the page, an area players will likely miss. This disclaimer reveals a concerning detail – a feature that won't be included for both games at launch on 5th June 2025.

The disclaimer reads, "Please note: this software does not support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership’s Save Data Cloud backup feature." Furthermore, as per Eurogamer, this disclaimer doesn't appear on the Japaneselistings and other Nintendo games; however, there's no clarity on why this disclaimer applies to these Zelda games.

This is quite a significant drawback regarding the exclusion of Cloud Saves for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom; however, users on ResetEra alluded to the upgrade paths for both games, adding an extra save slot. This allows players to import their saves from the original Switch console to the Switch 2, but it may come at the expense of being unable to create Cloud Save files, which is a speculated reason why this feature may be missing.
