Season 15 of Overwatch 2 marks a major turning point for the game, with one of the biggest announcements being the upcoming Stadium mode. While the mode has yet to be fully released, players have already picked up on some intriguing details from the announcement media. Most notably, it appears to tease details of Hero 45—a hero fans have been eager to see for some time.
Overwatch 2’s Mysterious Hero 45 May Have Just Been Revealed in Stadium Mode
At the time of writing, we know that Freja will join the Overwatch 2 roster in Season 16, and details have already emerged about the Season 18 hero, currently referred to as "Aqua." These additions will bring the total hero count up to 44. By simple math, that leaves Hero 45 as the next big addition—and now, we may finally have our first real look at them.

In the currently live playtest for Overwatch 2’s upcoming game mode, Stadium, players spotted an intriguing detail on the Arena Victoriae map. A poster shows a silhouetted character wielding a massive sword, and the same sword can also be found displayed elsewhere in the map, strongly hinting that Hero 45 will be a melee-focused character.
Fans have been speculating about Hero 45 for a while, and many have been hoping for a new melee hero—something in the vein of Reinhardt, but perhaps faster or more aggressive. Judging by the design of the sword and its repeated presence in the environment, it seems the devs may have listened to that feedback.

Even more telling is what’s beneath both sword displays: the Roman numerals XLV, which translates to 45. This strongly implies that the character teased on the Arena Victoriae map is indeed Hero 45. Based on the current release cadence, it’s likely this hero will debut in Season 20, following Aqua’s arrival in Season 18—but Blizzard hasn’t confirmed the exact timeline just yet.
So, what do we know about this hero? While much remains under wraps, the visual hints are compelling. The silhouetted figure appears to be female, and underneath the banner is the name "Lu Lupa"—a Latin phrase that translates to "She Wolf." Combined with the wolf emblem etched into the sword’s hilt, all signs point to a brand-new female melee hero. Could we be getting another Junker Queen-style badass? Yes, please.
Given the current hero role rotation—Freja as DPS and Aqua likely being Support—it makes sense to expect Hero 45 to be a Tank. Of course, there’s still a long way to go before the hero is officially revealed, and many aspects could change during development. But from everything we've seen so far, it’s safe to say that Hero 45 is coming soon—and she or they might just be the next melee tank fans have been waiting for.
