We're a few days away from the launch of the next season for the superhero team-based PvP shooter Marvel Rivals, in which players will be arriving on the "Living Island" of Krakoa. As they have been invited to this location by Emma Frost, one of the season's newest heroes, to join the playable roster, developer NetEase Games announced a new "experimental feature" to playtest during this season.

The second season of Marvel Rivals, the Hellfire Gala, will arrive on consoles and PC on 11th April 2025, welcoming a new map, the Hellfire Gala: Krakoa, another new character in Ultron, new cosmetics, and more content. Additionally, plenty of new features and gameplay optimizations will be added to the game, including a new feature available exclusively for PC players.

The Hellfire Gala is about to begin in Marvel Rivals as players are to ensure to be "dressed to the nines" for this special occasion on Krakoa. While players engage in battle on the Hellfire Gala: Krakoa map, PC players will gain access to a new "experimental feature," the Switch Shader Compilation Mode.

The Switch Shader Compilation Mode can be turned on for players with "various PC configurations have encountered performance stutters and crashes, often due to high memory consumption during gameplay." This is especially the case for PCs with 16GB of RAM or less that experience "excessive RAM usage can force the system to use swap memory, leading to unwanted slowdowns in the heat of battle."

This new PC feature includes a host of new optimizations once it's turned on; however, it "will only run when first entering the game after a new game version or graphics driver update," the developer stated. This sees a reduction in game memory usage, which should prevent FPS drops, freezing visuals, and game crashes due to "memory shortages."

However, they've also highlighted some key issues with this feature, which may include abnormal visual rendering and frame stuttering, to name a few. As such, should players experience further technical issues, especially with this new "experimental feature," the developer has encouraged players to submit feedback to help the development team provide important features and optimizations to deliver "an optimal gaming experience."
