Marvel Rivals is finally bringing the entire Fantastic Four together with the announcement of The Human Torch (aka Johnny Storm) and The Thing (Benjamin Grimm). When these iconic members of the Fantastic Four drop, players will want to jump in quickly, as both heroes come with powerful yet somewhat technical abilities. Let’s break down everything you need to know about their abilities and how they’ll change the battlefield in Marvel Rivals.

The Human Torch Abilities in Marvel Rivals

The Human Torch joins Marvel Rivals as a Duelist, bringing serious area control, dive potential, and perma-flight. His fiery abilities and team-up potential will have enemies burning before they know what hit them. Here’s a breakdown of his kit:

  • Fire Cluster: Launches a cluster of splitting fireballs forward.
  • Blazing Blast: Fires a fireball to deal damage or create a Flame Field at the targeted area, damaging enemies within.
  • Flaming Meteor: Dives toward the ground, dealing damage and detonating any Flame Fields hit.
  • Pyro Prison: When two or more Flame Fields exist, connect them to form a firewall. This wall deals one-off high damage to enemies passing through or continuous burning damage if enclosed.
  • Plasma Body (LSHIFT): Enter a state of accelerated ascent for increased mobility.
  • Supernova (Ultimate): Explodes with cosmic fire to damage enemies and enter the Supernova state. While in this state, Blazing Blast transforms into Flame Tornado, and Plasma Body can be activated without cost.
  • Omega Fire (Team-Up Ability with Storm): During Supernova, Storm can summon an Omega Fire by selecting a Flame Tornado with Omega Hurricane. Likewise, when Storm unleashes Omega Hurricane, The Human Torch can transform it into a Burning Hurricane, growing its size and damage.

The Thing Abilities in Marvel Rivals

The Thing storms into Marvel Rivals as a Vanguard, delivering devastating close-range punches, diving attacks, and AoE lockdown abilities. As a literal immovable tank, he’s immune to CC, knockbacks, knock-ups, and hooking abilities. Here’s a closer look at his move set:

  • Rocky Jab (Basic Attack): Rapidly punches forward. Feels like a boxer’s quick combo.
  • Stone Haymaker: Delivers a devastating heavy blow with no cooldown—charges almost instantly and has impressive range.
  • Yancy Street Charge: Continuously charges forward, launching enemies and leaving a zone that prevents the use of mobility abilities.
  • Embattled Leap: Jumps toward an ally, applying damage reduction to both of you—a clutch defensive move.
  • Unyielding Will (Passive): Immune to launch-up, knock-back, and displacement effects, making The Thing an unmovable force.
  • Clobberin' Time (Ultimate): Uses immense strength to launch all enemies in front into the air, stunning them on impact.
  • Cooperative Comrades (Team-Up Ability with Invisible Woman): Invisible Woman channels Psionic Might, fortifying the entire Fantastic Four team with damage resistance and bonus health regeneration.

United Siblings Ability (Global Team-Up)

Both heroes will also have access to the United Siblings ability, a Global Team-Up skill used by Invisible Woman. When activated, she channels Psionic Might to fortify the Fantastic Four team, granting damage resistance and continuous bonus health regeneration.
