HellRaisers bench entire CS:GO roster

The entire HellRaisers CS:GO roster has been benched, as announced by the organisation following their exit from the StarLadder Berlin Major last month.

In the announcement, HellRaisers state that Bence “DeadFox” Böröcz, who had been on the HR bench since March, has been released and is now a free agent. Abay “Hobbit” Khasenov remains on the transfer list after his removal from the starting lineup in April.

After roster changes saw star Özgür “woxic” Eker join mousesports and Vlаdуslаv “bondik” Nеchуроrchuk removed for Hobbit, the team has struggled in online qualifiers and small LAN events. The disappointing showing at the StarLadder Berlin Major, with no HR player managing a rating above 1.00, has led to drastic action by HellRaisers.

With only a single map win against Complexity not being enough to secure a spot at the next Major, the organisation went from Legends to qualifiers in the span of two Majors.

Every player previously on the active roster has been benched, but the organisation ‘isn’t leaving CS:GO’. It is likely some of the players are retained as HellRaisers rebuild the team around their best assets.

While some have suggested Kirill “ANGE1” Karasiow could make a long-anticipated move to Na’Vi, ANGE1 has been part of HellRaisers since 2014 and Na’Vi have brought in a younger Kirill in the form of Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov, burgeoning CIS in-game leader who has superior mechanical abilities to both Ukrainian veteran.

While the next Major cycle a long way off due to the set dates in May for the Spring 2020 Major, HellRaisers has the ESL Pro League Season 10 LAN group stage and online European Champions Cup in the coming months. Unless they withdraw from these commitments, the organisation will need to quickly decide on how they rebuild and acquire new players.
