WWE and 2K unveiled the official cover athlete for the next entry in the WWE 2K gaming series, which, as many had guessed, will be the former Undisputed WWE Champion Roman Reigns, who will appear in the standard edition of WWE 2K25. Additionally, several WWE Superstars embroiled in the Bloodline saga will appear in a special edition of the game, the Bloodline Edition, which both covers revealed in separate social media posts.
The official reveal trailer was subsequently uploaded to WWE's YouTube channel along with the confirmation that pre-orders for WWE 2K25 will be available later this week, but a little detail has seemingly gone viral. This detail pertains to a game mode that will be included in WWE 2K25 that is causing confusion and disappointment among players.
As teased on WWE Raw's Netflix debut on 6th January 2025, avid WWE 2K fans finally got the news they were anticipating as the official cover athlete was announced for WWE 2K25. The upcoming wrestling game, in which a release date has yet to be confirmed, will be launching for consoles and PC, which, in the official reveal trailer, confirmed a game mode to be included.
The Island game mode, which details what this mode entails, has yet to be confirmed and is expected to be revealed on 28th January 2025, according to the official WWE 2K website. There have been some theories that it may be akin to NBA 2K's The Neighborhood mode being an open-world experience, which we cannot confirm as of writing, but a detail about this mode revealed that it will be exclusively available to the game's PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.
This caused confusion about why this game mode won't be included for its PC version, and the PS4 and Xbox One versions were entirely omitted. This was the subject of much discussion on the WWE Games subreddit, which some players theorized it might be for the reason preventing modders and hackers from accessing this mode or the unique content included with this mode on PC.
While this may be a plausible reason; however, some have expressed their unhappiness with not being able to experience this game mode on PC. As mentioned before, more details on WWE 2K25 are expected to be announced on 28th January 2025, which we'll update this page to provide clarity on The Island mode and more game information.
