Drop Day makes its triumphant return on Friday, and this time the pros will be tackling God of War on the day of its release. Tune in on Friday, April 20 at 10 PM BST.
The third-person action-adventure game has already drawn considerable critical acclaim, with review aggregator Metacritic giving the a game a 95/100 score. This makes it the highest-scoring game in the God of War series and the second highest-scoring Playstation 4 game of all time.
The game stands out for its completeness, which makes it difficult to choose on particular area to praise. The combat is fluid and satisfyingly bloody. The story is well-written and packs a surprising amount of nuance. The musical score is one of the best we’ve ever heard in a video game. As one IGN reviewer put it, “God of War is a masterful composition of exceptional interlocking parts, deliberate in its design and its foreshadowing, which pays off in unexpected ways in both the gameplay and story.”
