What Are Zonai Charges In Tears Of The Kingdom

The world of Hyrule features plenty of unique enemies, structures, and machines that can be found in the Depths, the surface region, and the Sky Islands. The appearance of Zonai-infused items is one of these notable additions, mostly populating the skies above.

These include Zonai Charges, which can be used in a few ways but are quite valuable if you wish you use the Zonai Devices. This guide will help you understand Zonai Charges and how to use these items in Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears Of The Kingdom Zonai Charges Explained

Zonai Charges are valuable materials that can be collected after defeating various Soldier Construct enemies at Sky Islands, during Story Quests, and within Shrines. While they may appear pretty useless, upon its in-game description, this item can be utilized as a power source for devices, but this only becomes known after unlocking the Fuse ability at In-isa Shrine.

As such, you will need an Energy Cell, a power source that allows you to use the Zonai Charges in your possession, which will be given to you by a Construct. The Energy Cell can replenish over time when not used; the same cannot be said for the Zonai Devices, which rely on these Zonai Charges.

You will need to charge it up, which is indicated by the mini battery icon on-screen or in the Inventory. Powering it up requires the Zonai Charges, which Link consumes, filling up the device's battery to the maximum.

This will allow you to use the Zonai Devices that feed off the Energy Cell, guaranteeing plenty of Zonai Charges. As mentioned, this can be collected after defeating the Soldier Construct enemies, more specifically, the hostile ones, as they’ll drop these charges along with Soldier Construct Horn or, in some cases, the Captain Construct Horn.

The Zonai Charges can also be used for the in-game gacha system by locking a Zonai Device Dispenser. This structure allows you to exchange a Zonai Charge for a randomized Zonai Device, for which there are 27 Zonai Devices to collect.

As for the Zonai Device Dispensers, quite similarly, these can be found across the Sky Islands, for which you can place either a Zonai Charge or Soldier Construct Horn. As Link can only hold five Charges or Horns at a time, these can be placed inside a bowl for which you’ll receive five various Zonai Devices at a time.

Likewise, you can place on Large Zonai Charge to acquire more devices at a time which are slightly harder to get. The Zonai Device Dispensers are located nearby Shrines, for which there is about 152 Shrines total, but only about 30 Shrines are on the Sky Islands.
