You needed a certain amount of hearts to get the Master Sword. Now in Tears of the Kingdom, you need to upgrade your stamina before you can get the Master Sword.
Each Stamina Wheel comes in five parts. You will need to get five stamina vessels to get a new Stamina Wheel. Completing shrines will give you a Light of Blessing in Tears of the Kingdom. Collect four Light of Blessings and you can upgrade your stamina.
You can upgrade your stamina by heading to any Goddess Statue that you find in towns or out in the wild. You can also use the horned Statue underneath Lookout Landing to transfer your hearts into Stamina. But if you focus primarily on upgrading your stamina first, you can get the Master Sword quite easily.
