The Ascent, from indie studio Neon Giant and publisher Curve Digital, was released on 29th July 2021 and has seen some great feedback from top critics. The game, set in the world of Veles, is an ARPG boasting an open-world Cyberpunk-themed metropolis, an intriguing story and more. While players are likely enjoying the experience either alone or with some friends (if they fix the multiplayer bug), many are wondering what The Ascent's endgame content is like, and if the title has a New Game Plus mode.
Does The Ascent have a New Game Plus mode?
Players who finish the main story campaign of The Ascent might be wondering if there's a New Game Plus mode.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a New Game Plus mode for The Ascent in the traditional sense.
Generally speaking, a New Game Plus mode is considered to be where a player starts a new game, with increased difficulty, keeping certain progress of their character. While The Ascent does not have this exact New Game Plus feature, there are some things to do during the "endgame".
The Ascent endgame details
The story of The Ascent should take between 12 and 16 hours to complete, depending on your playstyle. Once completed, the game's endgame begins.
After the credits roll, the player will be returned to Cluster 13. They can continue to explore all the areas of the game, complete unfinished and new Side Missions, search for items and more.
Players can create a new session, or play the game again with friends or random players. You can earn more XP and level your character to the max.
In the endgame of The Ascent, merchant inventory will also be updated with time. You can discover more chests, and complete Side Missions you haven't done during the main campaign.
The progress carrying over is:
- Player level and skills.
- UCRED amount.
- Weapons and Armour pieces.
- All Augmentations and modules in your inventory.
- The Tactical Items you've acquired.
So there you have it, everything you need to know about the endgame of The Ascent. While the game might not have a New Game Plus mode in the traditional sense, there's still a whole lot to do in the dystopian future after you've beaten the story.
