The Witcher: Monster Slayer, the next chapter of The Witcher franchise, now finally has a release date.
Announced in 2020, The Witcher: Monster Slayer is maybe not what some gamers hoped for (the reveal of The Witcher 4), rather it is a completely new way for The Witcher fans to experience the universe of The Witcher, right here in our world!
The Witcher: Monster Slayer is an augmented-reality exploration game (think Pokémon GO) where players take a role of a witcher and embark on an adventure across the world to help desperate citizens and fight the most hideous monsters known to mankind, as well as some never-before-seen ones.
The game's release is imminent, so let's check out what we currently know about The Witcher: Monster Slayer.
When is The Witcher: Monster Slayer coming out? Release date revealed
CD Projekt has officially revealed the release date of The Witcher: Monster Slayer.
The game is scheduled to be released worldwide on 21st July 2021 for both Android and iOS devices.
The Witcher: Monster Slayer gameplay
CD Projekt explains that the game will give players a sense of how it is like to be a witcher, set out on a journey to earn precious coins by helping villagers and fighting against dreadful monsters.
The game will use real-time weather conditions and time of day, which will determine the habits and behaviour of monsters. Just like Geralt, you will need to study your targets and learn their strengths and weaknesses before engaging in a battle.
Likewise, you will need to equip yourself adequately and have the witcher's famous potions at hand.
The game will also feature story elements told through quests, and developers promise "deep, story-driven adventures inspired by the Witcher series."
Is The Witcher: Monster Slayer free?
Yes, the game will be free to play with in-game microtransactions. The exact nature of the game's monetisation system hasn't yet been revealed, but we expect that players will be able to buy things that will help them level up their characters faster, buy better gear, and probably ingredients for potions.
The nature of mobile F2P games is such that you will probably need to spend some money to alleviate the grind, so don't expect that you will be able to play the game at its full capacity without spending a dime.
The Witcher: Monster Slayer - All supported and compatible devices
CD Projekt hasn't yet revealed the official system specifications in order to run The Witcher: Monster Slayer, but we will update the article once this information becomes available.
