Phasmophobia is flying off the shelves, but it doesn't seem to be the work of a poltergeist. With its recent console release, ghost-hunting game Phasmophobia has now sold over 20 million copies across all platforms (Steam, PS5/PS VR2 and Xbox Series X|S). The game has been in Early Access on Steam since September 2020, with the game finally bringing its scares to consoles in Early Access on 29 October 2024.
"We are absolutely thrilled to see Phasmophobia reach this incredible milestone of over 20 million copies sold," said Daniel Knight, Phasmophobia's Managing Director & Lead Developer. "The journey has been nothing short of amazing, and it’s all thanks to our dedicated community of players who continue to share their passion for the game. We're excited to keep expanding the Phasmophobia experience and look forward to what the future holds."
The game has already sold an additional 250,000 copies since its console release. Many fans had been waiting over a year for the game to hit PlayStation and Xbox, as Kinetic Games originally planned to release the console version in August 2023. Several delays - one of which was caused by a fire in the developers' office - led to a lengthy waiting period, but the game is finally available on consoles this October, just in time for Halloween.
Phasmophobia is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Steam for $19.99 base price (though there's currently a 25% Steam sale at the time of writing). The game raised its price slightly in September to reflect the major amounts of content added since the kick-off of its Early Access release years ago.
