Developer Bad Ridge Games has announced the first planned content update for their medieval fantasy RPG Mirthwood. The game launched in November 2024 exclusively for PC via Steam, for which the developer had promised a plethora of patches and content updates, as revealed in their Development Roadmap.
December 2024 has been slated per the current roadmap for a Holiday-themed content update coming to Mirthwoord, which the developer confirmed, titled the “Night of Falling Stars.” This content update introduces players to an expanded game narrative through new quests, a reworking of the current combat system, a larger World Map, and new cosmetic items, to name a few.
According to an official press release, the “Night of Falling Stars” update introduces a new storyline: "The nobility of Turien have gathered to celebrate their opulence and throw a masquerade party for the ages – the Starlight Ball." As the protagonist, they've been cordially invited to the Starlight Ball; however, the host of this masquerade party may have other plans in store, which they must discover what they are and "unravel the complicated intricacies of the night’s attendees."
The developer has included in this update several themed cosmetics with new couture items, which feature plenty of clothing pieces, fabulous hairstyles, and hats galore, which they can use to dress to the "nines" and engage in this "masquerade party." They'll also finally be able to change their character's appearance with the addition of the Magic Mirror and a new vanity slot for helmets, enabling them to proudly display their ornate headpieces "while maintaining the defensive values of their base helmets."
Alongside new quests that advance this update's storyline, new crops will be added to Mirthwood for players to acquire and plant, and as such, new recipes will be available to use these harvested crops in their dishes. If you're a player who enjoys a freshly brewed cup of tea, you're in luck, as teas will be accessible in this update, and so will the Beekeeping mechanic to produce honey, beeswax, and other unique products.
A long-requested item in the form of fish creel is coming to Mirthwood to assist players in transporting freshly caught fish and other valuable resources that can be used to prepare delectable bites of food. With new crops and recipes added, as it's the Holiday season, a Christmas-themed celebration will be explored in this update, adding plenty of seasonal clothing, decor items, and, yes, even more recipes!
The developer has stated that this will be a recurring feature available in-game "every winter season moving forward." New reworkings for the game's combat system will debut in this update, which the developer has previously discussed in a developer post that "players should find action more engaging," and Stamina has also been addressed as it now gets consumed "while performing combat actions or running."
