Mirthwood Post-Launch Roadmap 2024/25: Update Schedule, Content & Details

Developer Bad Ridge Games is closing in on the official global release of their "enchanting RPG life" simulation game Mirthwood, exclusively for PC via Steam. This "immersive medieval fantasy world" sees players having to choose between two paths: one set in farming and trading in the village or arming themselves as a brave adventure in pursuit of glory. 

Whatever the life choice may be, there is plenty of content to anticipate and explore at launch and post-launch, as the developer outlined in their Development Roadmap. We've picked up the roadmap to provide players with a detailed look at all new content and updates and when to expect them for Mirthwood.

Mirthwood Post-Launch Roadmap 2024/25: September & October 2024 Content Schedule & Details

Developer Bad Ridge Games has outlined what players can expect to arrive to the "enchanting RPG life sim" Mirthwood post-launch. With the game set to launch on 11th September 2024 for PC via Steam, with no confirmed plans for consoles yet, we know what new content and updates players can look forward to exploring at its release.

Starting on launch day and beyond, we can anticipate plenty of hotfixes and patch updates to support the game's release, along with a few performance optimizations. Likewise, the developer has noted that work on the game's localization will continue and is looking to complete work "as soon as possible."

If we cannot finish it by the launch day, we will roll out localization in the days after the launch. Our priority is ensuring the game is finished and fixing as many bugs and performance issues as possible for the launch.

The developer has planned to roll out additional controller support for Mirthwood for players who prefer to play out their in-game adventures with their favorite supported peripherals. Finally, post-launch, we will see Steam Achievements included with the base game, and once they're available, we'll provide all the relevant details, including their unlock conditions and more, in a separate guide.

October 2024 sees the developer release their first major game update, Update 1.1 or the "Fish Are Friends" update, which adds the Fishing mechanic, allowing players to acquire fish as food sources and possibly more. This update also brings new Housing upgrades to give their homes that much-needed Spring clean overhaul, and a Companion system will also be included in the update.

The developer also revealed in the roadmap that an NPC Relationship tracker system will arrive to Mirthwood; however, we cannot confirm any details as of writing. New social features are another major feature coming to the "enchanting RPG life sim," which adds new poses or emotes, the ability to play the lute, and plenty more, which will be detailed in a future developer post or patch notes.

Mirthwood Post-Launch Roadmap 2024/25: November & December 2024 Content Schedule & Details

This Holiday season welcomes two game updates to the "enchanting RPG life sim" with official release dates soon. The next significant update, the v1.2 update arriving in November 2024, is centered around two common life themes, "Death and Taxes," in which new funeral events will be added: "for NPCs that pass away."

This will coincide with a new in-game feature, which they can, unfortunately, attain various ailments with some unique mechanics to support the feature. Likewise, new in-game quests will become available to players, and the developer referred to generated quests also coming soon to Mirthwood.

December 2024 brings Update 1.3 to Mirthwood, aptly titled "The Feast and Festivities" update. According to the roadmap, timed events are being added with the update, which sees themed limited-time events spawning across the world throughout the year.

The first of these timed events is likely added for the game's seasonal content to celebrate Christmas, which may change the world's environment. While we anticipate learning more about what seasonal content is to be added, there will be World Events to participate in, which debuts in this update, and more reasons to enjoy spending time at home as new gardening crops and delicious recipes will be made available for players to explore.

Lastly, one confirmed QoL update arriving with "The Feast and Festivities" update is the game's Steam Deck verified status. The developer is working to verify Mirthwood for the Steam Deck so that players can take their enchanted adventures with them.

Mirthwood Post-Launch Roadmap 2024/25: Q1 & Q2 2025 Content Schedule & Details

The first and second quarters of 2025 can anticipate plenty of Quality of Life (QoL) updates, new content, and features added to the game. This includes the Baby Boom content update, which adds the marriage feature, allowing players to have a dedicated ceremony to celebrate the monumental life event in-game.

Alongside the update, their created character can have children with their spouse, and they'll be given specific life decisions to continue their in-game experiences. Another unique feature included in the update is having various abilities to be passed down or inherited through genetics to their children; however, no specifics were provided.

The second quarter adds a few QoL updates, including a status update on the game's multiplayer and co-op modes. Likewise, players can expect to learn more about the game's PC modding support, including its release and new details on the first DLC expansion update for Mirthwood.
