Mirthwood Post-Launch Roadmap 2024/25: Update Schedule, Content & Details

Developer Bad Ridge Games is closing in on the official global release of their "enchanting RPG life" simulation game Mirthwood, exclusively for PC via Steam. This "immersive medieval fantasy world" sees players having to choose between two paths: one set in farming and trading in the village or arming themselves as a brave adventure in pursuit of glory. 

Whatever the life choice may be, there is plenty of content to anticipate and explore at launch and post-launch, as the developer outlined in their Development Roadmap. We've picked up the roadmap to provide players with a detailed look at all new content and updates and when to expect them for Mirthwood.

Mirthwood Post-Launch Roadmap 2024/25: November & December 2024 Content Schedule & Details

Developer Bad Ridge Games has outlined what players can expect to arrive to the "enchanting RPG life sim" Mirthwood post-launch. The game was set to launch on 11th September 2024 for PC via Steam but got delayed to 6th November 2024; with no confirmed plans for consoles yet, we know what new content and updates players can look forward to exploring at its release.

Starting on launch day and beyond, we can anticipate plenty of hotfixes and patch updates to support the game's release, along with a few performance optimizations. Likewise, the developer has noted that work on the game's localization will continue and is looking to complete work "as soon as possible."

If we cannot finish it by the launch day, we will roll out localization in the days after the launch. Our priority is ensuring the game is finished and fixing as many bugs and performance issues as possible for the launch.

The developer has planned to roll out additional controller support for Mirthwood for players who prefer to play out their in-game adventures with their favorite supported peripherals. Finally, post-launch, we will see Steam Achievements included with the base game, and once they're available, we'll provide all the relevant details, including their unlock conditions and more, in a separate guide.

Due to the game's delay to November 2024, which adjusted the developer's roadmap significantly, post-launch players can anticipate multiple hotfixes and patches addressing bugs and glitches while adding PC optimizations. The first content update, "Night of Falling Stars," was recently announced, which added new quests, themed cosmetics, new crops and recipes, and the map expansion.

Additionally, new adjustments made to the game's combat and Stamina systems were also addressed, which are aimed at making "combat more challenging," but can turn off this specific setting from the in-game menu. As promised, seasonal content additions were added in the "Night of Falling Stars" update as Yuletide-centric cosmetics, decor items, and more recipes have arrived to enjoy this Holiday season.

Mirthwood Post-Launch Roadmap 2024/25: Q1 -  Q4 2025 Content Schedule & Details

Following the release of the latest updated Development Roadmap, there are a few adjustments to the content slated to arrive to Mirthwood in 2025. According to this new roadmap, players can expect three forthcoming (and themed) content updates between January and March 2025, with the first update of 2025 adding Bard instruments, but details on additional content have yet to be confirmed.

The following update, likely coinciding with Valentine's Day, finally adds the much-awaited Marriage and Family systems, allowing players to have a dedicated ceremony to celebrate the monumental life event in-game. Their created character can have children with their spouse, and they'll be given specific life decisions to continue their in-game experiences.

Additionally, another unique feature included in the update is having various abilities to be passed down or inherited through genetics to their children; however, no specifics were provided. A new content update inclusion is centered around pets and animals, of which there'll be multiple pets, each with unique characteristics, and they can adopt a cat or dog to reside on their homestead.

Moving into Q2 2025, the developer has highlighted three more content updates, adding more gameplay features and content alongside hotfixes and updates like overhauling the game's existing Morality system, co-op functionalities, and modding support. The third quarter, while details are minimal, adds the Summer Solstice celebration, and the fourth quarter welcomes a Halloween-themed event alongside the game's first expansion. It's unclear if the developer will add World and timed events to participate in, which will spawn across the World Map throughout the year.
