The medieval fantasy RPG Mirthwood just got pushed back from its slated release date in September to November 2024 as the game's developer, Bad Ridge Games, cited needing more time to work on core gameplay features. This also saw some tweaks to its roadmap, which the developer had first released days before its PC launch, highlighting key gameplay content and features arriving post-launch.
In the wake of the game's delay, the developer has adjusted the roadmap to spotlight and add a few new content additions, which seasonal content is coming soon in time for the Holiday season. We've discussed and answered whether there will be a Christmas-themed event or content being added to Mirthwood post-launch.
19th December 2024 Update: We've updated this page to confirm that a Christmas-themed celebration will be added to Mirthwood's "Night of Falling Stars" update with new clothing pieces, decor items, and more recipes. The original reporting continues below.
Will There Be A Christmas Seasonal Event For Mirthwood?
Developer Bad Ridge Games recently announced that their "enchanting RPG life sim" Mirthwood has been delayed from its 11th September 2024 release to its new date of 6th November 2024. The developer cited that core gameplay features like "performance optimization, localization, and some of the systems" require more time and attention to work on them before their release.
This also saw some changes to their Development Roadmap, which the original and updated versions provided players with a brief preview of all new content, features, and mechanics before its launch. This includes launch day and post-launch hotfixes, patch updates that players can anticipate, and plenty of gameplay content to be added to Mirthwood in the future.
The game's original roadmap version detailed that seasonal content will be added to Mirthwood in a future game update to be released in December 2024, in which an updated version was released alongside the game's latest update. The "Night of Fallings Stars" update has landed on PCs and is centered around a mysterious "masquerade party," which is a Christmas-themed celebration that is also released in this update.
Aimed at spreading some festive cheer this Holiday season, the developer confirmed new items for players to acquire and explore, including holly jolly cosmetic items to wear, new decor pieces to decorate their homestead, and more delicious recipes to share with others around the table.
This coincides with the update adding new crops and recipes, as their seeds can likely be obtained from the Northdell Farm stall in Brightoak, especially if players had completed The Road to Brightoak quest. Lastly, as this seasonal content has arrived to Mirthwood in the "Night of Fallings Stars" update, the developer confirmed that it will be returning "every winter season moving forward," and it's more than possible more Christmass-themed content will be added to the game in future updates.
