The "enchanting RPG life sim" Mirthwood, initially scheduled for release on 11th September 2024, has been pushed back mere days before its release. The game's developer, Bad Ridge Games, made the announcement via the game's Steam listing page just after the developer had revealed the Development Roadmap, which outlined all forthcoming content, features, and more coming soon in subsequent patch updates.
The delay will see all outlined plans for Mirthwood post-launch likely pushed back for some time, but luckily for players, they won't have to wait long for the game's launch. As such, the developer revealed the new official release date for Mirthwood, which launches on PC via Steam on 6th November 2024, along with an official statement on the game's delay.
We want Mirthwood to be the best it can be on day one. As a small, passionate team, we've worked tirelessly to create a world that you will love, but we felt there were still key areas, like performance optimization, localization, and some of the systems, that needed more work and attention before launch.
As such, the Development Roadmap has been reworked to reflect the game's delay, which means a few "post-launch features" will be included with the game at launch. According to a post on their Discord server, the post-launch content to be included at launch consists of Fishing, Falconry, Steam Achievements, Localization, improvements to NPCs and relationships, and additional gameplay content.
With Mirthwood being pushed back from its September release date to November, the developer has announced plans to host Beta testing weekends will take place. As we await more updates regarding the dates and times of the Beta weekends, this gives players opportunities to jump into the game and see what the developer has been working on.
In terms of getting access to the Beta, they've stated that one way "to get access to the upcoming beta weekends" will be to join their official Discord server. "We'll let you know the dates of the beta weekends later on; they're not set in stone yet and want to make sure everyone who plays the Beta has the best experience possible," the developer posted to their Discord server.
Our small team never expected to have quite so many of you along for the ride with us. It's amazing, yet we recognize that expectations are both high and varied! Rest assured, we are working tirelessly to meet them—today, tomorrow, and into the future.
