Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Release Date Confirmed For Fall 2023

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the latest entry in the critically acclaimed Spider-Man franchise. The game, a PlayStation 5-exclusive title, is being developed by Insomniac Games and is set to release sometime in the fall of this year. This news comes after a cleverly marketed live-action teaser trailer captured the attention of fans worldwide. First spotted during an ad break of the Australian NBL on ESPN, the trailer showed our favorite web-slinging, crime-busting friendly neighborhood superhero doing his thing.

At first, internet users were unsure if the advert for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was a fake; however, it has since been confirmed that it is genuine. The footage in question featured Peter Parker and Miles Morales, two of New York's most legendary web-slingers, having clearly taken on some of the city's toughest foes. The commercial opened with a news anchor reporting on how the heroes saved the day, with the newsreel reading, "news just in: criminals finally captured."

However, perhaps more striking is that underneath the newsreel, the release date for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was confirmed as "coming spring 2023." Considering that the broadcast originated from down under in Australia, it would suggest that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will release in the fall of this year in the United States; that is, sometime between late September and December 2023.

This is great news because it means that fans will only need to wait about eight more months for the game to release. Although the advert is short and doesn't showcase any in-game footage, this latest teaser is a hint that PlayStation and Marvel will be ramping up their marketing campaigns as we draw nearer to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 release date in fall 2023.

If you're wondering about what you might expect regarding gameplay, the VP of Creative at Marvel Games, Bill Rosemann, stated in an interview that the game will be "everything you love [about the first game and Miles Morales] but more." He later added, "There are multiple foes. I can say the story very much continues and picks up from Marvel’s Spider-Man to Marvel’s Spider-Man, Miles Morales. I don’t want to reveal too much, but it’s the next big chapter; there are a lot of threads, a lot of characters that were in the first two games that you’ll see here.”
