Gaming insider Spheshal Nick claimed on the Xbox Era podcast that Microsoft is trying to re-list Activision’s Deadpool game after the movie’s success. It’s not just Wade Wilson’s title coming back, as the insider also claims that the first two Marvel Ultimate Alliance games are also making a comeback.
Fans should take this with a grain of salt since reports from these insiders can go either way. Sphesal Nick has gotten plenty of stories right and wrong in the past, so only time will tell if these reports are the real deal.
Activision has de-listed Deadpool and the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games for licensing issues. These games first appeared on the PS3 and Xbox 360 but were eventually removed in 2014. Marvel gave these games a second chance back in 2015 to coincide with their movie releases, but they were removed again in 2017.
Because these Marvel games haven’t been available in years, physical and digital prices for these titles have inflated. Players are willing to spend hundreds of dollars to play these games, so it would be in Xbox’s interest to bring them back. Now that Microsoft has purchased Activision Blizzard, they could make the right deal with Marvel.
It is worth noting that the Nintendo Switch is home to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, a game that is still readily available for anyone to purchase. Deadpool and Wolverine are playable in this action RPG, alongside several characters who made cameos in their recent MCU adventure.
