Best Hulkling Decks In Marvel Snap

With shapeshifting abilities and hulking superstrength among some of their powers, Hulkling may provide chaotic fun to Marvel Snap at release.

The final card release for the Young Avengers season will be Hulk-Smashing his way to Marvel Snap in the upcoming week. Meet Theodore "Teddy" Altman, the Hulkling (or Emperor Hulkling if you want) who, despite his name, has no direct relation to the smashing Avenger but instead has affiliations with the Kree, Skrulls, and, of course, the Young Avengers.

With Hulkling's arrival impending, there have been some interesting theory-crafting and deckbuilding ideas surrounding this intriguing card due to how chaotic its ability can be when in play. Let's look at everything we know about Hulkling, including briefly explaining their ability, highlighting key card synergies, and providing a few deck ideas to try Hulkling upon its release to Marvel Snap.

Marvel Snap Hulkling Card Abilities Explained

While much of his identity has remained a secret throughout his multiple appearances in Marvel Comics, he has gained the trust of fellow founding Young Avengers members Iron Lad, Kate Bishop, Patriot, Stature, and Wiccan. Possessing shape-shifting abilities and superhuman strength, making him such an invaluable member, Hulkling can use these abilities to mimic other people and morph parts of his body to generate unique physical traits like claws and create shields and wings to fly.

He'll be joining his fellow cohorts in Marvel Snap, and on release, Hulkling will be a six Cost and 11 Power card with a Common Ability that lets him copy the card text of a random six Cost card at the start of the game. By description alone, this ability may resemble Copycat's ability; however, Hulkling specifically targets any six Cost cards, which appears not to be limited to the cards from their deck but instead the entire pool of six Cost cards.

This may be an upside as there are dozens of sic Cost cards in which Hulkling copies its text, like Alioth, Apocalypse, Doctor Doom, and Knull; it could be a potential game-winning card and allow players to readjust their game strategy accordingly. However, it does have its drawbacks, as it could copy text from a less favorable card, like Galactus and The Infinaut.

Nevertheless, if players are looking for a more chaotic gameplay experience, Hukling can be acquired in its release week through the next Spotlight Cache rotation alongside Cannonball and Nimrod using Spotlight Keys. Alternatively, they can spend 6,000 Collector's Tokens during that same period at the Token Shop to acquire Hulkling for their collections.

Best Marvel Snap Hulkling Decks: Super Hela Tribunal

Hulkling has a Common Ability, which does make it generally difficult to counter, except Juggernaut, Mobius M. Mobius, and Shang-Chi which the latter is due to its high power, while Juggernaut and Mobius depend on the ability copied. Initially, it's tricky to determine its key synergies, other than Arishem, Blue Marvel, Skaar, and Wave, but there are a few decks, given its synergies, that Hulkling might feel like a good inclusion with.

As players are more likely to run Hulkling in decks with multiple six Cost cards, a Hela Tribunal deck may be a great start to test Hulkling's might in this deck from Marvel Snap content creator ItsGuestGaming. Featuring a few low-cost cards like Crystal, Jubilee, and Magik, the latter extends the game, and both Invisible Woman and Supergiant hide pivotal cards behind them, like M.O.D.O.K. and Hela, most importantly.

The rest of the deck is akin to The Living Tribunal with a couple of valuable cards, like Iron Man, Red Hulk, and The Infinaut, which Hulkling's inclusion is a great Power target for The Living Tribunal. Alternatively, if players aren't looking to get Hulkling at release, they can swap it out for Onslaught, while Crystal can likewise be swapped for Luke Cage if power becomes an issue.

Best Marvel Snap Hulkling Decks: Sand Controls The Day

Take control of the game by pairing Hulkling with Sandman for a synergistic control deck. (Picture: Untapped.gg)

Regardless of Hulkling's synergies, its high power alone makes it an interesting card to include in control and lockdown decks, especially if it limits plays or locks down locations for an advantage. As such, we pivot towards this gameplay strategy with a Control deck featuring key cards that hopefully give players a one-up against their opponents and disrupt some critical plays.

In helping players gain an advantage over opponents during matches, this Control deck from Marvel Snap content creator Docty pairs Hulkling with a few disruptive tech cards like Spider-Ham, White Widow, and, of course, Sandman, which should be held off until Turn 5 (or Turn 6 if Magik was played). This lets their opponent work in turning off the Widow's Bite generated by White Widow, either by filling that location or Luke Cage and Cassandra Nova for an early power advantage.

Playing Ms. Marvel and/or Klaw could have a few interesting things occurring, depending on what ability Hulkling could copy, which, ideally, players would want Onslaught or Spectrum to give a power buff to Ongoing cards. Once Sandman goes down, depending on what their opponent could play on the last turn, Hulkling or Doctor Doom can be played for location priority or to evenly distribute power across locations, which may be valuable if Cassandra Nova has already been played and Hulkling copies Odin's ability.

Best Marvel Snap Hulkling Decks: Electro Ramp

Ramp-style decks may be Hulkling's best synergized deck by blinking key cards to gain lcoation priority. (Picture: Untapped.gg)

The final spotlight deck for the last card release for the Young Avengers season draws some inspiration from the Developer Update video, which saw a Ramp-style deck used for Hulkling. Much like the Supergiant Hela deck featured in this guide, this deck too features plenty of six Cost cards that can be discarded with either Corvus Glaive or M.O.D.O.K before being resurrected by Hela and likely not to be destroy targets if Hulkling copies Destroyer's ability.

This Ramp deck comes from Marvel Snap content creator Ankh, where the bulk of the deck is built around Electro and Wave, as Electro will give players +1 Energy per turn, and Wave can allow them to play cards like Destroyer or Galactus fairly early. Galactus would be ideal, especially with Death and Knull in the deck, which can give them a huge advantage heading into the remaining turns.

One way is to play Electro, then Wave into Galactus in another lane to effectively get rid of Electro before playing Blink on Galactus. Another way is to play X-23 into Electro, Wave, Ultron, and Killmonger to give Knull power early before Venom comes onto the board.
