Marvel Snap's latest season, which arrived on PC via Steam and mobile devices on 1st April 2025, welcomed heroes from all corners of the Multiverse in the "What If...?" season. With Captain Carter as the latest Season Pass reward, another gargantuan hero joins her in its opening week: William "Bill" Foster, a.k.a. Goliath.

Snappers who are familiar with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) may have already recalled being introduced to Bill Foster in 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp as Hank Pym's disgruntled former partner, but this month, we'll be introduced to the hero behind the biochemist. This giant-packed guide looks at the hero Goliath by reviewing his card ability, key synergies, and top counters and provides three guides that include this behemoth hero in Marvel Snap.

Marvel Snap Goliath Card Abilities Explained

William "Bill" Foster is a biochemist who worked his way through Start Industries' corporate ladder until he eventually began the next chapter of his professional career, working alongside Henry Pym and even aiding Pym by researching a cure to revert his rather sizable issue. But as he became deeply fascinated by Pym's interesting case, leading him to synthesize a formula based on this case (and using it to win back his ex-wife), the formula ended up having a completely different effect on Foster by trapping him in a gargantuan size and continuing his research with a costume included under the name the "Black Goliath."

Now entering the Marvel Snap domain with a more streamlined moniker of Goliath, Foster joins the multiversal heroes for the game's "What If...?" season as a two Cost and one Power card. This card has an Ongoing ability, which gains +1 Power for every Ongoing card that's in play on their side of the board, meaning Goliath plays well with Ravonna Renslayer and Mystique, which the latter can copy Goliath's ability.

Other notable cards Goliath synergizes well with include Sam Wilson / Captain America, Captain America, Moonstone, and Spectrum; the latter card grants all Ongoing cards +2 Power. However, depending on priority, it can be countered by Echo and Enchantress, which removes Ongoing abilities from cards played at its location, while Rogue can steal its Ongoing ability, and Red Guardian removes it entirely, which Cosmo is a great support card for Goliath.

Goliath can be acquired in one of two ways: by spending Spotlight Keys on Spotlight Caches during its release week or by spending 6,000 Collector's Tokens at the Token Shop. The game's developer, Second Dinner, has confirmed that Snap Packs will be introduced this year and give Snappers more control over how they earn cards, with Goliath being added to the Snap Series 5 Packs when the Snap Packs launch.

Best Marvel Snap Goliath Decks: Silver Surfin' With Goliath

When deckbuilding for Goliath, it's crucial to remember that Goliath's ability is similar to Gorr the God Butcher's, which gains Power for specific cards on board, but the difference is that Goliath prioritizes the Snapper's Ongoing cards and not all Ongoing cards in play. Therefore, Snappers must include a bevy of powerful Ongoing cards to give Goliath additional Power, and there are many to consider.

Our first spotlighted deck shines a light on the Silver Surfer deck archetype, like this new take from Marvel Snap content creator dddrewsky. This deck can also work with the inclusion of Captain Carter, but for now, we'll focus on getting specific cards in play, which includes Ravonna Renslayer and Mystique to copy Renslayer's ability and reduce the Cost for Cassandra Nova, Sage, and Iron Man.

A number of three-Cost cards are included in this deck, like Brood and Gladiator, to play at the exact location, and Mobius M. Mobius to counter Destroy, Discard, and The Collector decks, while Galacta gives additional Power to the first adjacent played card. Sera will reduce all cards in hand, which should make playing Cassandra Nova, Sage, and Silver Surfer on the final turn, which, in the case of Magik or the Limbo location revealed, Iron Man can also be factored.

Best Marvel Snap Goliath Decks: Ongoing Super Goliath

With the impending release of Snap Packs arriving to Marvel Snap, making it harder for Snappers to determine whether Goliath is a worthy acquisition, it's important to stress that Goliath is one card worth getting as it will be played in meta Ongoing cards. Additionally, the best decks Goliath will be featured in will also run Moonstone, which gains the Ongoing effects/abilities of all one, two, and three Cost cards, and yes, that does include Goliath himself.

As many Snappers will likely run Goliath and Moonstone together, Marvel Snap content creator Alexander Coccia spotlights both cards in this powerful Ongoing deck. There are some worthy substitutions that Snappers can make if they don't have certain cards, but when the game begins and if they're lucky, Ant-Man will almost always be their Turn 1 card, followed by Ravonna Renslayer and either Sam Wilson / Captain America, Mister Fantastic, or Cosmo.

Cosmo must be played at the location where they'll play Moonstone to prevent the cards from being countered, and they can play Goliath here with Mister Fantastic or Captain America. Super Skrull is another great tech card to have and use against their opponents while ensuring Captain Carter is played in the top row of a location, with Iron Man and Spectrum being their final two turn cards to play.

Best Marvel Snap Goliath Decks: Captain Of All Things Negative

Finally, we've looked at running Goliath alongside Mystique and the other three-cost cards in a Surfer deck and within strong Ongoing meta decks to capitalize on its Ongoing power increase. But what about flipping the Cost and Power values of cards in their deck to gain access to Goliath and other low-Powered cards earlier than anticipated?

That is the strategy with a deck premised on this playline from Marvel Snap's Principal Game Designer Glenn Jones, who shared this deck to his social media account, with the primary playline to play Ravonna Renslayer to discount all cards with one Power and less by one Cost This allows Snappers to play Mister Negative, if in their hand on Turn 3 to flip all cards' Cost and Power in their deck.

Once the cards are flipped, this opens the window for plenty of unique playlines, but do keep one location free to play Moonstone, where Mister Fantastic, Captain America, or Sam Wilson can be played at that location. Iron Man, Gorr the God Butcher, and Spectrum can be played at the adjacent location, hoping these cards won't be countered by Echo, Rogue, Red Guardian, Super Skrull, Enchantress, or Cosmo, the latter of which counters Spectrum.
