It's officially confirmed that Snap Packs are coming to Marvel Snap in the game's next patch update, which will be deployed on 29th April 2025 for PC and mobile devices. The game's developer, Second Dinner, first announced this new system in late March 2025, which was detailed in a developer post; however, in the days following its announcement, there has been much intrigue and concern about this new system.
This saw plenty of questions covering multiple topics that hadn't been answered or needed clarification from the developer. Some, if not most, were recently answered or clarified in a new video upload posted to their YouTube channel, confirming the release date, which Snappers can begin saving their resources ahead of its launch.
For the purpose of this guide, we'll be breaking it down into three major sections: Snap Packs and the soon-to-be-retired Spotlight Caches system, Collector's Tokens, and the impact on future Series Drops. Each section will answer various questions addressed in the announcement post and the developer Q&A video the developer recently published.
UPDATE: We'll continue updating this guide to everything about Snap Packs in the leading days and weeks to its global launch for Marvel Snap on 29th April 2025 for PC and mobile devices.
Everything We Know About Marvel Snap's Snap Packs And Its Release
As stated in a previous article that confirmed the release of Snap Packs, this new in-game system is Marvel Snap's new acquisition system that will replace the current (and outgoing) Spotlight Caches system. According to the announcement post, Snap Packs aims to address the current issues Snappers have "with the current system" regarding card acquisition, hoping that the current issues will be addressed.
Before delving deeper into Snap Packs, this new card acquisition system will debut for Marvel Snap in the next patch update scheduled for 29th April 2025 for PC via Steam and mobile devices. Ahead of this upcoming patch update, we can expect one or two Over-The-Air (OTA) updates to roll out balance changes for problematic or underperforming cards.
Right. Now, about those Snap Packs, at launch, five unique packs will be available for Snappers to purchase from the "dedicated Card Shop," which falls under the Series or Collector's Packs.
According to the developer blog post in March 2025, each pack contains "separate pools of cards," which gives Snappers "greater control over the cards" they earn or acquire. The Series Packs are seasonal packs for Series 4 and 5 cards, respectively; the Seasonal Series 5 Packs feature all Series 5 cards from its current season and "one previous season," and its card pool gets updates weekly with "each Spotlight Card."
Similarly, the Series 4 Packs also feature cards from the current season; however, it will include cards from "two previous seasons," and its card pool only gets updated every season. According to Second Dinner's Matt Ricchetti during the developer Q&A video, the Seasonal Series 5 Pack will cost 5,000 Collector's Tokens and the Seasonal Series 4 Pack at half its price of 2,500 Collector's Tokens.
The Collector's Snap Packs differ from the Seasonal Snap Packs as these three packs feature cards from Series 3, 4, and 5, but they are not included in the Seasonal Snap Packs. These Collector's Snap Packs will cost 650 Collector's Tokens (Series 3), 2,000 Collector's Tokens (Series 4), and 4,000 Collector's Tokens (Series 5).
It's also important to mention that once a season concludes, the older cards from the Seasonal Series Packs will drop down into the Series 4 and 5 Collector's Snap Packs. All Collector's Snap Packs will include one unowned Series 3, 4, or 5 card and two additional items, which may consist of Card Boosters, Mystery and Premium Mystery Borders, Mystery and Premium Mystery variants, Collector's Tokens, and Credits.
However, the Seasonal Snap Packs may also award Snappers with Series 3, 4, and 5 cards as bonus items, but it's unclear if these will be unowned cards from the Collector's Snap Packs. Regarding the Season Pass cards, we'll use April 2025's card, Captain Carter, as our example; Season Pass cards are categorized as Series 5 cards, and once the season ends, Snappers can find Captain Carter within the Seasonal Snap Packs for one additional cycle.
Once that additional cycle expires, Snappers can find Captain Carter and older Season Pass cards like Agamotto within the Series 5 Collector's Snap Packs. Directing our attention to the Token Shop, it will receive a significant UI revamp, which, when viewing a Snap Pack, Snappers can view every unowned card they are guaranteed to get once purchased.
For the Seasonal Snap Packs, we'll get to view the unowned cards per season, of which the Seasonal Series 5 packs feature cards from the current and previous seasons, while Seasonal Series 4 Packs contain the current and two previous season cards. Staying with the Token Shop, the redesigned UI will see the shop split into two sections: Cards and Offers, the latter of which will be the home of cosmetics, new bundles, and Spotlight variants.
How Can Snappers Earn And Best Use Collector's Tokens For Snap Packs?
Regarding Collector's Tokens, let's first reiterate that the current system, the Spotlight Caches, will be retired on 29th April 2025 to make way for the Snap Packs system to take its place. This also means that Spotlight Keys will be retired, too, so Snappers will now proceed with the Collection Level tracker to acquire as many keys as possible and save those for when the Snap Packs are introduced.
The reason is that all owned Spotlight Keys will be converted into Collector's Tokens, as one key will earn Snappers 3,000 Collector's Tokens. Likewise, the Spotlight Keys that have yet to be claimed on the Collection Level tracker will immediately be replaced with Tokens, as for every 120 levels, they can acquire 3,000 Collector's Tokens.
Don't forget: Snappers can still earn Collector's Tokens from Collector's Reserve Caches, Daily Missions, Weekly Challenges, and the Bonus Challenge: Weekend Missions. Post-launch, the Token Shop will offer Collector's Token bundles that can be purchased with Gold, and Snappers will receive 50 free Collector's Tokens daily (or every 24 hours).
What Is Happening With Series Drops And Can We Expect More?
The recent Series Drop, which occurred on 4th March 2025, alongside the Prehistoric Avengers season launch, saw a handful of cards dropping to Series 3 and 4, respectively. As for how the Snap Packs system affects future Series Drops, Second Dinner's Matt Ricchetti stated that the developer wants "to see where the dust settles with Snap Packs" before reevaluating the state of card acquisition post-launch.
As such, the Series Drops may be utilized as a "complimentary system," intended to help speed up card acquisition for Snappers, especially for new and returning Snappers, to get everyone onto the "meta" and play with the latest and most popular cards possible. This also plays into a recent card acquisition change by increasing the drop rates of Series 3 cards from Collector's Reserve Caches within the Collection Level tracker.
Ricchetti stated that the Snap Packs won't be the end post-launch as the system's design is flexible enough to build atop it, sparking some interesting theories and thoughts about themed Snap Packs being introduced. Nevertheless, we may anticipate Series Drops following the launch of Snap Packs to determine if they accomplished the goals (card acquisition) it set out to achieve with Series Drops, and if it doesn't reach that goal quite yet, then we could see a Series Drop happening in the future.
