With just about a week until Marvel Rivals releases globally in early December 2024, developer NetEase Games released some new tidbits for players to sink their teeth into. As the global countdown continues to run down the days, hours, and minutes until its eventual release, the developer posted their daily news announcement, which sees things getting rather tasty for one specific character.
NetEase Games revealed the next playable character to be spotlighted in the latest Rivals Assemble video posted across their digital and social media platforms. This coincided with the daily news announcement of said character, which is confirmed to be Eddie Brock / Venom, and its timing was appropriate as they released the Kyntar: Symbiote Surface Map Reveal trailer hours later.
As we're eight days away from the game's global release to consoles and PCs, players received a first look at Venom's new cosmetic skin, the Space Knight skin, coming to the game soon. This skin's design was primarily inspired by its comic book design, which appeared in Venom: Space Knight (2015) #1 as the venomized anti-hero experiences "a series of chaotic encounters in space" during this comic run.
As we've previously mentioned, the skin announcement has some ties with the Kyntar: Symbiote Surface Map Reveal trailer, in which the trailer states that the Guardians of the Galaxy was on a mission that resulted in the Milano crashing "in the ruins of the Agents of the Cosmos." As these agents, who were symbiotes, were responsible for the imprisonment of Knull on his homeworld of Klyntar, they created this organization to promote peacekeeping across the universe and likely the Multiverse within the context of Marvel Rivals.
The map reveal trailer description suggests that the Guardians and Venom clash at Klyntar, as Venom was promoted to being an Agent of the Cosmos according to the skin description; they'll be fighting over "the looming threat," likely being Knull as Venom must decide which side to fight for. We may expect more lore when the skin becomes available, likely at launch and the eventual map launch during Season 0 for Marvel Rivals.
