Following numerous leaks and speculations for its upcoming season, developer NetEase Games announced the second season of their superhero team-based PvP shooter, Marvel Rivals. And in true spectacular fashion, it confirmed a handful of said leaks as players will experience the marvel as they celebrate mutants from all corners of the Multiverse with the Hellfire Gala, the theme for this upcoming season.
The official reveal trailer for the Marvel Rivals Hellfire Gala season was uploaded across the game's social and digital channels, which featured plenty of fashion for multiple characters and confirmed the debut of Emma Frost in the game. But it appears that this night celebrating mutant culture was unceremoniously interrupted by an unwanted guest who crashed the party on the island of Krakoa...
As the Eternal Night Falls concludes in a few days, NetEase Games rolled out the red carpet to reveal the second season for Marvel Rivals, the Hellfire Gala. An island, a sanctuary for mutants and mutant culture, this location plays a pivotal role in the main storyline for its upcoming season, with two new characters making quite the entrance in the trailer.
Emma Frost and Ultron are featured in the trailer for Marvel Rivals' second season, confirming that both heroes will be played upon their releases, as revealed in the latest Developer Vision video. Emma Frost will be the game's newest Vanguard-classed hero who utilizes her telepathic and diamond-strong abilities to protect her allies while obliterating her enemies on the battlefield, which the developer cited will come in handy "as the situation demands."
She'll also serve as the Master of Ceremonies, inviting all heroes to "a lavish celebration" to the "Living Island Krakoa," but are required to be "dressed to the nines," and that means new Hellfire Gala-themed cosmetics for multiple characters including Black Panther, Magneto and Wolverine and classic X-Men-themed cosmetics for Magik and Psylocke to name are arriving soon.
This will coincide with new color options for cosmetics debuting this season, which will apply to a few of the game's popular costumes to give players more cosmetic customization options for their favorite heroes. Likewise, players will be able to gift their friends cosmetics with a new Gifting option, and this update will also arrive upon its release.
Regarding maps, the game's Competitive Mode will introduce a rotation cycle to add the season's latest map, Hellfire Gala: Krakoa, while Tokyo 2099: Shin-Shibuya and Yggsgard: Royal Palace will be removed from the current rotation. The developer also stated that this competitive mode map rotation will also be used in upcoming Tournaments; however, players can still access these retired maps in Custom and Quick Match modes.
The developer revealed in their latest Developer Vision vlog that from Season 3 onwards, they'll be switching to a two-month format, allowing them to launch the season's newest heroes evenly, one hero per month. This means that the Hellfire Gala season will be the last of the three-month season, which begins on 11th April 2025 for consoles and PCs and is expected to conclude sometime in July 2025.
