My recent job at Riot has been to help develop the League universe, which we’re going to need!
Because it is time. My new job is to kick off a big (some might say massive) game that many of you, and many Rioters, have been asking us to create.
PS We’re hiring

When asked for more details about this new "massive" game, Greg confirmed that it is indeed an MMO game.
An MMO game set in the universe of League of Legends is something that fans wanted for years and now it will become a reality.
This is yet another step where Riot is seemingly trying to directly compete with Blizzard Entertainment.

In 2020, they have released a card game, Legends of Runeterra, which competes with Hearthstone, class-based FPS Valorant, which is a direct competition to Overwatch, and now they are trying to shake things up in the MMO genre, where World of Warcraft is dominating for almost two decades, and the latest expansion, Shadowlands, has recently become the fastest-selling PC game of all time.
This is definitely exciting news, and we cant wait to see what innovations will Riot Games try to bring into the genre, that hasn't changed much over decades, due to massive popularity of World of Warcraft, which everyone tried to copy.
We expect the first details about the game to be revealed sometime in early 2021.
