Riot Unveils LoL 2025 Season Schedule & Season 1 Preview

2025 is approaching us and so is the new League of Legends season cycle. LoL Season 1 is set to arrive in January 2025 and Riot has given us a first look at it, while sharing their goals for the overall year.

League of Legends will have a total of three seasons throughout next year and each of them will run for around eight patches i.e. 16 weeks. Every season will follow a unique theme and not only this, but devs will be working on bringing "most new content" in 2025.

This includes new champions, modes, mini-games, and much more. New featured skins will also be released every season aligning with its theme, along with a ton of unrelated ones.

Riot shared a detailed look at League of Legends Season 1 that will be based on Noxian theme. It will bring Atakhan, a brand new epic jungle monster, that will spawn once per game after you are 20 minutes into the game. You will find him either on the top or bottom side of the map, depending on who has the most champion damage and kill in the first 14 minutes. 

After Atakhan is spawned, Blood Roses will grow in the areas where champions are killed and you will be able to collect them to get a small amount of XP and a permanently stacking Adaptive Force buff.

Apart from this, the season will also introduce new game mechanics, items and runes. These include:

• Feats of Strength: This will give Noxian-themed boot upgrades to the first team who claim two of three objectives, including first blood, first tower, and first three epic jungle monsters. After equipping, your team will get slightly enhanced stats on their tier two boots and unlock a powerful Noxus-themed final upgrade for the boots.
• Bloodletter’s Curse: It will reduce the target’s magic resistance from repeated ability hits.
• Axiom Arcanist: It will be added to Sorcery tree and will make ultimate abilities more powerful.  

Swiftplay mode will also be added to League of Legends in a few regions in January and will be a potential replacement for Quickplay. Apart from this, rewards system is also getting revamped starting from Season 1. 

In 2025, each season will have two Battle Passes, featuring both free and paid rewards and it will be priced similar to the Event Pass. 

Starting next year, players will go through a single large reset in January and they will be able to earn three Victorious skins throughout the year, if they win 15 Ranked games each season. 

Last but not least, multiplayer functionality will be added to Practice Tool potentially with the release of Season 1. The feature will be tested soon on PBE client and will be launched globally if everything goes well.
