Popular Fortnite player Dominick “Unknown” Green, widely regarded as one of the best players in the world, has signed for NRG Esports.
Unknown, also referred to as UnknownxArmy, has seen his popularity explode in recent months - after winning seven Solo Cash Cups in the highly competitive NA East region.
His success is not without its detractors with many claiming he abuses the aim assist afforded to players that use Xbox or PlayStation controllers - known in the community as “L2 spam”.
He has readily admitted that he does, in fact, abuse the mechanic but he has also proven his skill on keyboard and mouse - he placed 5th in a Solo Cash Cup on KBM back in December, showing that when it comes to Fortnite he is one of the worlds best.
Alongside the announcement, NRG released a video that poked fun at the feelings around “L2 spam.”.
It features the majority NRG’s current Fortnite roster including Benjy “Benjyfishy” David Fish, Shane “EpikWhale” Cotton, Ben “Edgey” Peterson and William “Zayt” Aubins.

In the video a suited man thanks the player for meeting at short notice - then states that with the release of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 there is a whole new threat and that is “hybrids - players that can play on both controller and mouse and keyboard - we have never seen anything like it, but there have been rumours that there might already be one among us.”
A statement that prompts Epikwhale to take an Xbox controller and hide it under the desk and a reference to the recent Fortnite Elite Cup when Epikwhale changed from keyboard and mouse to Xbox controller mid-match.
Zayt takes offence at the very idea of signing a controller player stating, “you gotta be kidding me man!”
Unknown joins one of the most highly decorated rosters in Fortnite - four, including Unknown, appeared at the Fortnite World Cup with Unknown being the first controller player to qualify and the only one to qualify twice.
