Epic Games have certainly ramped up the available modes when it comes to Fortnite. THe biggest recent addition was the introduction of Zero Build Mode, which kept nearly all aspects of the Battle Royale formula the same, but removed Fortnite's building element. The mode was a success, and managed to bring back a number of players to Fortnite who could never quite get onboard with building.
Outside of that, Fortnite has plenty of creator-made modes that offer various experiences. These range from games like Prop Hunt, obstacle courses, and even free-for-alls. But these aren't typically official modes made by Epic Games, rather ones where creators, and sometimes brands, have the free reign to flex their creativity. But, according to some new information, Epic Games could be working on a new mode for Fortnite, and it has something to do with open world.
Fortnite Seemingly Set For Open World Mode
As posted by known Fortnite leaker @ShiinaBR, with information provided by @PoketOfficial, a new job listing has been posted by Epic Games that seemingly contains hints at a possible open world mode. The job description laid out the role as: "[...] will involve working on an open world survival crafting game within a physics sandbox."
While the exact role for this job description is unclear (Epic Games' career page contains over 150 different open positions), it does hint at an open world mode bieng worked on in some capacity. However, it's possible that this might not be in relation to Fortnite at all. Epic Games could be working on something completely different. Whatever it ends up being, it will involve survival and crafting mechanics in an open world setting.
