With the release of Fortnite v18.21, Epic Games has unleashed the Fortnitemares 2021 event filled with challenges and rewards, a new location called "The Convergence", and more. There's even a new melee weapon for players to acquire, in the form of the Sideways Scythe. In this guide, we explain how players can get the Sideways Scythe in Fortnite, its stats, and what they will need to upgrade it to a higher rarity level.
How to get Sideways Scythe in Fortnite
As the name might suggest, you will need to enter a Sideways Anomaly and complete it to get your hands on a Sideways Scythe.
It is quite an easy process really, and those who've been playing Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 should be familiar with these Sideways Anomalies. If you're just jumping into the new season our guide below can help you out.
Sideways Anomaly locations are random, so head into a match, open your map, and look for where they have spawned. You will need to open a Sideways Crate inside to get a Sideways Scythe drop in Fortnite.
You can also head to the new POI called The Convergence (middle of the map) to take on a Caretaker monster that drops the Sideways Scythe.
Sideways Scythe stats, rarity levels and how to upgrade
The Sideways Scythe has a unique mechanic which heals the player when scoring an elimination. It also has up to 46 damage, depending on rarity.
Check out the image below (via HYPEX) for the complete Sideways Scythe stats per rarity.
You can upgrade the Sideways Scythe in Fortnite with Cube Monster parts (get them in the Sideways Anomalies).
- Uncommon to Rare – 15 Cube Monster parts
- Rare to Epic – 20 Cube Monster Parts
- Epic to Legendary – 25 Cube Monster Parts
- Legendary to Mythic – 50 Cube Monster Parts
It should go without saying that the Sideways Scythe is arguably one of, if not the strongest melee ways in the game, and the healing mechanic on elimination just makes it even better.
So there you have it, an easy way to get the Sideways Scythe in Fortnite now that the v18.21 update is live.
