Lightsabers return to Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2

Lightsabers have been absent from Fortnite for nearly two years, along with any major Star Wars events, but that's about to change in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2. With the next weekly update in the battle royale, players will have new Star Wars themes to jump into according to recent leaks.

Many Fortnite players have already anticipated the addition of Lightsabers because of May the 4th this week. That day is usually reserved for Star Wars celebrations, and sabers made the same appearance back in 2020. Along with a return as mythical weapons though, the fanbase can expect a bit more.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 - Lightsabers and the Star Wars event

With May the 4th around the corner, prominent news accounts have been reporting Star Wars and lightsaber news for Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2. One of those accounts, in particular, ShiinaBR, has been releasing information as it becomes available in the API. Not everything that can be expected for the next few days is available, but there is some key information.

First and foremost is the confirmation of lightsabers in general. ShiinaBR tweeted out that the limited-time playlist labeled "Elegant Weapons" has been added to the API. What exactly the mode is hasn't been disclosed, but players can expect to find plenty of lightsabers available for use.

On top of the limited mode, a Star Wars-themed cup was also found in the API. The cup is called the "Star Wars-Lightning Cup" and could potentially feature new skins, but that aspect has no confirmation as of yet.

Star Wars skins have been featured in the past, and they will return to the shop for the celebrations. These included skins such as Rey and the Stormtrooper. What is still unknown is if new skins will make a debut in the shop along with the older releases.

Which lightsabers are in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2?

If we can reference the lightsaber mythical weapons from the past, then we know that there will be four lightsabers available for use within Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2. Each lightsaber is a different color that matches a different character from the movies.

Within that saber pool, you'll find the weapons that belong to Kylo Ren, Luke Skywalker, Rey, and Mace Windu. There was previously a leak for a Stormtrooper NPC that could sell these sabers on the map, but like so much else, that won't be confirmed until the third of May when the update goes live.
