Fortnite Caretaker: How to defeat, locations and loot drops

With the release of the Fortnite v18.21 update, Fortnitemares has returned, with new challenges and rewards...and so did the Cube Queen. The Cube Queen brings with her a powerful new monster, which players can defeat for some great rewards, including the Sideways Scythe and more. In this step-by-step guide, we explain how you can find the location of a Caretaker monster in Fortnite, its rewards, and how you can possibly manage to defeat such a monstrosity. 

Caretaker locations in Fortnite

In every Fortnite match, it appears that only one Caretaker spawns, making this gigantic monster both valuable and hard to find. It spawns on random parts of the map as well, and it is nearly invisible.

When you jump into a Fortnite match, you should open the map, zoom in and look around for a tiny marker (looks like a rift) as pinpointed via the image below.

Once you engage the Caretaker, it will pull you into its realm where you can fight it.

Epic Games explains: Tall, foreboding, shadowy apparitions, their spectral tendrils pull you directly into The Sideways for a showdown on their home turf. Survive a Caretaker’s assault and you’ll walk away all the richer."

This brings us to how you can defeat a Caretaker in Fortnite, and the rewards it holds.

How to defeat a Fortnite Caretaker and rewards

The Caretake has a huge loot pool, offering up multiple rewards for those brave and skilled enough to take it down.

Players will receive multiple Mythic weapons and some items, including a chance to get the Sideways Scythe, and other Sideways weapons.

To defeat the Caretaker, you will need to gear up a bit first, if possible, and get your shields up. It has multiple attacks, from an AOE sweep to deadly jabs.

YouTuber Vizion in the video below showcases how one can kill the Caretaker solo in Fortnite, but we do suggest that less skilled players bring a friend or two along for the fight.
