Epic Games has rolled out a new change that affects the exclusivity of items offered in Fortnite Battle Passes.

Items in Fortnite's Battle Pass will no longer be fully exclusive, after Epic Games announced that any item from a future Battle Pass might be offered for purchase in the Fortnite Item Shop 18 or more months after the Battle Pass’ expiration. A Battle Pass item may also include a different number of its alt Styles each time it comes back to the Item Shop.

In a recent blog post, Epic Games went on to explain that "this change lets us continue investing in new and exciting Battle Pass rewards while enabling players down the road to also enjoy the content, including Outfits based on popular licensed characters."

Any type of item from a Battle Pass could be added to the Item Shop once at least 18 months has passed from the Battle Pass expiration date, including Outfits, Back Blings, Emotes, Instruments, and more.

This will no doubt be a mixed bag for players. On one hand, it allows everyone another chance to get hold of the previously exclusive items, or items that have been missed from unfinished Battle Passes, albeit at a price. On the other, it means that players no longer have a guarantee that they've got an exclusive skin, and that the change could affect an item's perceived rarity.

"One reason for this change is that we want players down the road to enjoy Battle Pass content such as Outfits based on popular licensed characters," Epic Games said. "While there is no guarantee that a Battle Pass item will come to the Shop after this change, IP content from future Battle Passes might come to the Shop at least 18 months after the Battle Pass expires.

Despite this change, the Battle Pass won't be changing in price. The pass will remain at 950 V-Bucks.
