It has been some time since the last Patron deck was released for Tales of Tribute in The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO). That last deck was the Hermaeus Mora deck from the Necrom Chapter, for which players had to obtain deck fragments. Now, a brand new deck will be coming soon featuring the Mother of the Empire, Saint Alessia.
With the Gold Road Chapter heavily centered in the West Weald zone, it's befitting that this beloved figure will be spotlighted in her new Patron deck for players to utilize in their next competitive match. This guide details how they can get the Saint Alessia Tales of Tribute deck and a few gameplay strategies to employ in ESO.
How To Get The Saint Alessia Tales Of Tribute Deck In ESO: Gold Road?
The next expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO), Gold Road, will first arrive on PC on 3rd June 2024, adding a new zone, the West Weald. With this DLC and Update 42 available to playtest on the PTS, players can explore the bevy of new content coming soon, including a new Tales of Tribute deck.
In a special preview post, the development team revealed the latest Tales of Tribute deck, Saint Alessia, explaining the new Patron card, gameplay mechanics, and more. Like previously released decks, this deck, including the Hermaeus Mora deck, features 12 unique cards boasting Play Effects centered around "Choice."
As for how players can acquire it, details on the card acquisition remain unconfirmed, as it could change while it's available on the PTS. According to ZeniMax's Senior Systems Designer John Carlson, players can acquire deck fragments for the Saint Alessia Tales of Tribute deck during their exploration of the West Weald zone, which we'll update this guide once more information becomes available.
How To Play The Saint Alessia Tales Of Tribute Deck In ESO: Gold Road?
As previously mentioned, the Saint Alessia Tales of Tribute deck centers on the "Choice" mechanic, thus introducing 'the first-of-their-kind agent cards." As detailed in the Saint Alessia Tales of Tribute Dev Q&A post, players can choose between one of two Play Effects or abilities whenever they have an agent in play.
One of these Play Effects or abilities is brand new to ESO and is called "Knock Out All," whose in-game description states that all their active agents and their opponents will be placed in their corresponding cooldown piles. Most agent cards have this KO Play Effect along with another ability like the Morihaus, the Archer card gains one Coin if another agent card gets KO'd, while the Pelinal Whitestrake and Whitestrake Ascendant cards move a max of four agent cards from the cooldown pile to the top of their draw pile.
While the Saint Alessia Tales of Tribute deck can be overwhelming for players due to the "Knock Out All" Play Effect, its agent cards are easy to "pick off" with a few counter decks. According to Carlson, the Hermaeus Mora and Saint Pelin decks are current counters that can be challenging for Saint Alessia to overcome due to its "excessive amounts of power."
To bolster the deck, throw in a couple of agent cards from the Rajhin, the Purring Liar deck, particularly cards with the Taunt Play Effect. Agent cards from the Druid King deck with triggering abilities can help the cards gain Power and Coin or create a totem card within their pile.
