Following the recent Xbox Developer Direct, ZeniMax Online Studios and Bethesda rolled out their ESO 2024 Global Event, highlighting key content arriving in The Elder Scrolls Online in 2024. This included the final content for the Necrom Chapter, with the dungeon DLC Scions of Ithelia and the next main story arc, which begins with the Gold Road Chapter.
They also looked beyond the upcoming DLC and Chapter releases with forthcoming quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and new features to be added in-game. We’ve unpacked all the ESO 2024 Global Event announcements as we look at the official 2024 roadmap for The Elder Scrolls Online.
Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) 2024 Roadmap: The Gold Road
The Necrom Chapter will conclude in 2024 with the arrival of the upcoming dungeon DLC, Scions of Ithelia releasing for PC via Steam and Mac on 11th March 2024. The game’s PlayStation and Xbox versions will be available a few weeks later, on 26th March 2024, as Scions of Ithelia will be purchasable from the Crown Store and available for ESO Plus members.
The eighth main story arc, whose title has yet to be confirmed, will begin with the release of the Gold Road Chapter, hitting PC and Mac on 3rd June 2024. As expected, its PlayStation and Xbox versions arrive a few weeks later, on 18th June 2024, with pre-purchase now available for its base and Deluxe versions for the Collection and Online Upgrade editions.
The new roadmap is divided into four seasons, like previous seasons, starting in March 2024 alongside the Scions of Ithelia dungeon DLC. It will continue throughout the year, ending with Update 44, which adds two more companions; the last released companions were Azandar al-Cybiades and Sharp-As-Night, released with the Necrom Chapter.
Let’s look at the detailed roadmap with all the content, quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and features to be released in 2024 for ESO:
Spring 2024
Spring 2024 will see the launch of the Scions of Ithelia dungeon DLC together with Update 41 for PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox. ZeniMax Online Studios confirmed the release dates for the dungeon DLC and Update 41, including more quality-of-life improvements and two new dungeons, the Bedlam Veil and the Oathsworn Pit.
Summer 2024
Arriving in June 2024, the next story arc for ESO begins with the Gold Road Chapter, which is currently available for pre-purchase, with Update 42 available around its launch. This Chapter includes a new zone, West Wearld, last seen in ESO IV: Oblivion, and will also feature a new storyline, the Scribing system, the 12-player Trial, the Lucent Citadel, and plenty of rewards.
Fall 2024
Update 43 is scheduled for the fall, which the developer has planned to address more bug fixes and add more quality-of-life improvements. While there’s not much information on this specific update, a new Housing system feature is to be included, which, based on previous roadmaps, is looking to launch in August 2024.
Winter/Holiday Season 2024
Ahead of the Holiday Season, the final major update, Update 44, is scheduled for ESO and will launch for PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox around October or November 2024. Like with Update 43, there isn’t much information available as of writing, but it’s confirmed that a new PvP feature is arriving in-game along with two new companions.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road is available to pre-purchase now for PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox ahead of its global launch. It will be available for PC and Mac on 3rd June 2024 and for PlayStation and Xbox on 18th June 2024.
