The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO), developed by ZeniMax Online Studios and published by Bethesda, has grown in stature and popularity since its release in 2014, with dozens of fantastic content updates expanding the world. Just like every other MMORPG with high popularity, there might be some Elder Scrolls Online server issues from time to time.

Elder Scrolls Online servers down?

At the time of writing, the Elder Scrolls Online servers are not down. This could, however, change at a moment's notice for some or all regions.

Reasons for the Elder Scrolls Online servers going down are plentiful, from unexpected outages to networking issues, weekly maintenance and, of course, the launch of a new expansion/content update.

ESO has specific "Megaservers" for PC, Xbox and PlayStation. These are further divided into different Megaservers for North America and Europe. Essentially, this means that the likelihood of all Elder Scrolls Online servers going down at once is very slim.

How to check ESO server status

If the servers for ESO are not down, and you still can't connect, we suggest contacting Bethesda Support for official assistance. 

Lastly, while we don't recommend fiddling around with your router or gaming device too much, especially if others are also experiencing connection issues to the ESO servers, it is always good practice to connect a LAN cable from your router to your gaming device, instead of using Wi-Fi. Most of the time, this helps clear up latency issues and possibly even connection issues.
