Dead by Daylight's newest 8.2.0 update tackles prestige tunnelling and lobby dodging, as players will no longer be able to see others' prestige levels in the pre-game lobby. Developers say that this will speed up matchmaking times and empower players to play as their favourite characters.
"Seeing a high prestige level caused some players to feel intimidated and leave the lobby," developers explained. "This has a negative effect on matchmaking and discourages players from playing their favourite Survivors. "
Fans' opinions on the change have been mixed. Some agree with developers that hiding prestige levels before the match will likely prevent those with high prestige from being tunnelled, and will certainly give killers one less reason to lobby dodge.
However, other users say they enjoy showing off their prestige levels, and wish that the feature wasn't changed. Some have even suggested a toggle feature, which would let players choose whether their prestige level is shown before the match.
Players will still be able to see others' prestige levels after the game ends, letting veterans show off their hard-earned Prestige 100 badges. The change comes as part of the 8.2.0 PTB, which also introduces the Castlevania characters Dracula and Trevor Belmont to the Fog.
