Nintendo held their surprise Direct presentation on 27th March 2025, a mere 24 hours after announcing it on social media. The Japanese publisher was relatively mum on the details of the Direct presentation; however, it did confirm that no news on the next console, the Switch 2, will be explored.
Nevertheless, a handful of new releases were announced at the digital event, of which Ustwo Games' Monument Valley series was announced and, at long last, coming to Nintendo Switch consoles. Luckily for players, the first two entries in this isometric puzzle series are set to launch for Switch consoles this April, with the latest game entry arriving later this year.
The latest Nintendo Direct presentation showcased a lineup of first-party and third-party games coming to Nintendo Switch consoles throughout this year and beyond. While a few games did not receive release date updates, like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends Z-A, the remaining games have, which include Ustwo Games' Monument Valley and its sequel, Monument Valley 2.
BAFTA Games award-winning independent puzzle games, first released in 2014 and 2017, respectively, follow unique protagonists that players control and must lead them through brilliantly designed and visually stunning puzzles and optical illusions to reach their intended destinations. The journeys are contemplative and surreal, and both games were well-received by players upon their release; they quickly rose to be one of the most beautiful gaming releases, even being referred to as works of art.
According to the trailer that premiered during the Nintendo Direct presentation, Monument Valley and its sequel, Monument Valley 2, will finally find its journey to Switch consoles, launching on 15th April 2025, with pre-orders now live. But that wasn't the only announcement, as Ustwo Games' most recent release in the series, Monument Valley 3, is also coming to Nintendo Switch as it's confirmed to be arriving in the summer of 2025 with an exact release date to be announced by the developer sometime this year.
