Who Is David Martinez In Cyberpunk 2077?

David Martinez is the protagonist in the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime, placing him firmly within the Cyberpunk 2077 game universe. Born in Santo Domingo of Night City, David faced challenges growing up, notably being raised by his single mother, Gloria.

Gaining admission to the prestigious Arasaka Academy, he soon delved into selling XBDs, leading him into a tumultuous world. After a series of tragic events, including his mother's death and personal confrontations, David heavily modified his body with cyberware.

The David Martinez easter egg in Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0 is found in the Night City Columbarium. Specifically, you can find the inscription of David Martinez directly underneath his memorial. This Edgerunners easter egg is a poignant callback to the series, referencing David Martinez's demise.

The inscription is thought to have been written by the netrunner Lucyna Kushinada (or just "Lucy")  and reads: "You didn't take me to the moon, but you were there with me." This line alludes to David's promise to Lucy about taking her to the moon.

Although Lucy embarks on a journey to the moon by herself by the anime's end, it seems she returns to Night City afterward to bury David and her other friends, leaving behind these memorial inscriptions. Speaking of which, you can also find the inscriptions of Gloria and Rebecca in the Night City Columbarium.
