We're just days away from the global theatrical release of the third mainline entry in the Sonic the Hedgehog live-action film series, which garnered much excitement with the inclusion of Shadow the Hedgehog. The anthropomorphic lifeform, Shadow, is making his film debut in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and, voiced by actor Keanu Reeves, joins an impressive live-action and voiceover cast, including Idris Elba, who is back once again as the headstrong Knuckles following the premiere of the character's spin-off series on Paramount+.
Screen Rant's Joe Deckelmeier chatted with the cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 ahead of the film's global release in theatres on 20th December 2024. Sonic 3's Idris Elba, who's back to voice Knuckles the Echidna, made some interesting comments about reuniting with Shadow the Hedgehog's voice actor Keanu Reeves in an adaptation for another video game.
During the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 interview with Screen Rant, the Knuckles voice actor was asked about his interest in working with Reeves on another video game adaptation, Cyberpunk 2077, and his comments, rather, his answers were intriguing. Elba stated that the game would be well-suited for a live-action adaptation, and he expressed his excitement about the potential meeting between Elba's Solomon Reed and Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand in a live-action film.
Oh, man, that's a great question. I think if any film could do a live-action rendition, it could be [ Cyberpunk 2077 ], and I think his character and my character together would be, "Whoa." So, let's speak that into existence.
Last year, Cyberpunk 2077's developer CD Projekt RED announced a few adaptation projects, including an animated and a live-action feature, both set in the Cyberpunk universe. The animated project was announced during the Netflix Geeked Week event this past September as the developer had confirmed that there won't be a second season for Edgerunners but is expanding Cyberpunk 2077 to other features for film and television.
