Players are review bombing Apex Legends on Steam amid continued server connectivity issues experienced within the game, ranging from players being kicked from matches to weird audio bugs that result in entire lobbies becoming muted in the game. These problems have become a massive headache for players, whose gameplay has been severely affected.
Apex Legends was once regarded as the upper echelon of battle royales but swiftly tumbled from its thrown following the Evolution Collection Event update, which arguably made the game unplayable. The game was also once a destination for iconic streamers, like NICKMERCS and TimTheTatman, to seek refuge from hackers that were plaguing Call of Duty: Warzone at the time.
Apex Legends review bombed on Steam ahead of Season 11 release
Although the developers, Respawn Entertainment, have done their best to ameliorate the situation with various bug fixes and patch updates, the ongoing server issues continue to ruin the experience of players ahead of Season 11, which is expected to release earlier next month.
To make matters worse, players competing in ranked lobbies, are particularly negatively affected, as many reports indicate that they are losing Ranked Points and getting hit with a Leaver's Penalty. There is currently also no process for players to appeal the scuffed matches.
What are Apex Legends players saying about the scuffed game?
Among the many issues reported by players were broken servers, the game crashing or freezing, sound issues, hacking and cheating. Here are some user accounts of what they've experienced in the game.
"Apex has severe core issues that need fixing. When the game works, it's an amazing experience, however, you're lucky to get a game without issues in Season 10," Steam user Emalix reported in their review.
"4 seasons ago, [I] never had an ounce of problems. The game ran smoothly - what else could I have asked for? Now with the addition of each new wave of updates comes bugs, and practical unplayability. By no means is this game as good as it used to be, with optimization issues reducing the FPS down to practically nothing," Mechan O'Wyrm said on Steam.
"While the game seemed pretty fun at first, it all went to sh*t with Respawn being Respawn. Basically awful servers and overpriced cosmetics, terribly designed cosmetics and a lot of the fun and interesting mechanics being removed," Steam user, definitelynotsushi, said.
Twitter user, Josh Bosco, cited that the bombardment of negative reviews is "not fair to the game or the developers" but agrees that the "servers are an issue right now," adding: "I really don't like to criticize because people are way too quick to b*tch about games nowadays. But honestly, when I have to restart my game constantly due to crashes, it gets old."
This isn’t fair to the game or developers, but I agree that the servers are an issue right now. I really don’t like to criticize because people are way too quick to bitch about games nowadays. But honestly, when I have to restart my game constantly due to crashes, it gets old.

Overall, the reviews for Apex Legends are still mostly positive, although more recently, the reviews have been "mixed" on Steam. Only time will tell whether Respawn will be able to resolve these server issues in time for Apex Legends Season 11.
