Apex Legends offers players tons of entertainment and unique ways to make the game fun and interesting each time you play. So if you want your Legends to look the part as you tear your way through the battlefield, then this guide is for you. As we will be taking a look at exactly what Heirloom Shards are and how to get them in Apex Legends.
Apex Legends - What are Heirloom Shards
Heirloom shards are a form of currency within Apex Legends that players can use to purchase Heirlooms which are cosmetic flourishes that give your legends some extra personality and flair. These can range from Weapon Skins to Banner Poses for your Legends and give you a unique look and feel when taking out your opponents.
Heirlooms themselves are quite hard to come by as the Heirloom Shards aren't very abundant in the game, said for being able to purchase them, you'll have to be quite lucky to get many of them. But don't fret, below you'll find some useful tricks and tips for getting Heirloom Shards that you can use to tip the scales slightly in your favor.
Apex Legends - How to Get Heirloom Shards
Although Heirloom shards are fairly hard to obtain in the game as they only have a <1% drop chance in Apex packs according to the Apex Legends FAQ. There are other ways you can go about collecting them that don't require payment or waiting on very small chances.

Apex Packs can net you some Heirloom Shards, and though the chances of them being in your pack aren't the highest, they are certainly higher than 1%. The Packs can be acquired in multiple different ways including leveling up your character, ranking up on the battle pass or simply purchasing them using Apex coins (which require real money).
This will still require a slight bit of luck since you'll need to get your hands on 150 Heirloom Shards, which might require a few Apex Packs. But It's a far better alternative than relying on the drop chance, especially since you can get the Packs for free while playing and leveling up.
So to get the most Apex Packs and thus more chances to get Heirloom Shards, we recommed doing your best to get as much XP in each round as possible to level up faster and gain more Packs. This can be done by placing high in matches, staying alive for as long as possible and getting the most kills, but simply put, any tactic that grants you the most XP will boost your chances of getting those Packs and subsequent Shards.
Lastly, even if you're fairly unlucky, you will get the Heirloom Shards eventually. As mentioned in the Apex Legends FAQ that a player cannot go over 500 packs without pulling Heirloom shards unless they already own them. So keep your spirits up, even though it may take some time and luck, you'll be on your way to getting some Heirloom Shards as long as you stay persistent.
